A auto design magazine article below about the Purosangue : https://autodesignmagazine.com/en/2022/09/ferrari-purosangue-thoroughbred-horse/
My problem with it, is that it’s not an SUV! (I have a Urus Performante coming, which was intended to bridge the gap until PS arrives - I have a deposit). I can see the point of a Ferrari SUV or FUV, but this is basically a different looking Lusso with more ride height and better assistance systems/suspension. (I can also see the point of a different looking, more developed Lusso, but the price expectation/hype is not aligned with that) Subjective looks aside, it doesn’t seem to have achieved enough tech progress for me - it has the same (excellent!) engine, same imperfect and non-permanent 4WD system, still has 4 seats, and SUV-wise, it has no towing, roof bar option. It does have rear doors, unsure if it has more rear legroom than Lusso. So, in the end a lot of it is how you like the looks, and my opinion is that the price is too high on that basis. Why would a Lusso lose 50% in 2 years, but this is so sought after? Some element of Emperors new clothes in my opinion, but totally accept that some might like the clothes and/or have more willingness to spend on the next new thing. For what it’s worth, I expect it to drive brilliantly, and reviews to be effusive, and I reserve my rights to change my mind once I see it in real life!
I love there is a Rosso Barchetta 456M just laying in the cut in this pic. For the win. Sweet. What Ferrari event I wonder.
More like 2 seconds and that's on tracks with small straights, where the SF90 cannot stretch its legs properly, and both on Cup 2 Rs. They are not even in the same league.
You would think so but then their buffoon antics makes me wonder if they even care about that anymore.
Excellent points. I think those examples are the golden age of Ferrari when production was low enough to overcome any negative long term stigma. It will be interesting to see if time is as kind to todays Californias, etc, given the higher production numbers and modern ecu complexities.
Not sure what a Cayenne GT is? If you're referring to a Cayenne Turbo GT, I'm lost about where your information comes from? I own a '22 Cayenne Turbo GT...which has a titanium dual center exhaust...and ZERO towing capacity. Regardless, it's reported to have lapped the 'Ring in 7:38.925. We'll likely never know for certain, but with about 80 additional HP and 110 lbs less weight, it's safe to assume the Purosangue should run an even better time.
Just for sh!ts and giggles, I called up my Ferrari dealer and asked if I could order a PS. Yup, no problem. Put down a deposit (at least 50k) and I'm good to go. Seems like if you want one, you can get one.
Short answer: No theory at all. Not interested. My 812 SF is the only Ferrari I'll ever need and right now the only one I want. Long answer: I thought I was clear: I don't hate the car. I don't think it is ugly. It's just not all that and a bag of chips. The car just does absolutely nothing for me. It is uninteresting, uninspiring, forgettable or whatever adjective indicating indifference or lack of emotion you prefer. There is a fine line between being reserved and being boring. IMO Ferraris shouldn't be pedestrian or boring! That's not hating. We've had at least one if not two SUVs and at least one if not two trucks contemporaneously since '97. The last sedan we had was replaced by my wife's Levante GTS in '19. I love SUVs not as off roaders but as dailies and they are my preferred means of travel, especially long trips. I've also tracked the Levante when I had my F12. I don't really care about lap times- as long as the sonofabitch doesn't roll like a C2V I don't care which one handles "better" or more "like a sports car." The only thing I care about is having the horsepower for safe passing ability. I do agree with Ferrari and others, it is not an SUV and neither is a Urus. Of these two crossovers, the latter (a chopped Q8) I do find ugly. For the life of me, I just could not justify spending $200K for an SUV or the extra $50/100K for the 707 or Turbos over the base DBX/Cayennes. Not that I couldn't afford to, I just couldn't justify that for how I use them. Just wasn't worth it for me.......until now. You can bet your sweet ass I mention $500K to my wife every opportunity I get now that I've shown her pics of the PS......so there is a silver lining after all......
I don't get why they didn't make it a little bit longer to get more boot space. If you have two kids, the 470 liters will never be enough, especially when going on vacation. Sent from my BBF100-6 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Ah, I see what you're saying now. You're right and I'm wrong. I should have not said GT, but Turbo S. My fault, and thanks for pointing this out to me. Appreciate you.
First, congratulations on the Urus! Second, great points! If you ask me, is the PS woth 150K more then Urus - nope! But I'm poor.
Yup, you’re absolute correct. It’s always funny to me when folks that say they supposedly “love” Ferrari show it by bashing them. It’s not the first time I’ve witnessed it here, that’s for sure. I’ve posted on this thread why I think it happens.
Fun rhetoric, that must have been enjoyable to type out. Just curious, do you agree there’s utility in noting the buyers and the observers, and taking each viewpoint for where it’s coming from?
The world is changing and conspiring to change Ferrari. The more NA V12s we get in more places, the better. Before it’s all over Put it in a school bus, I will celebrate it
Hahaha, In all fairness, I never debate of person’s aesthetics. No right or wrong, I just find it telling though when I asked (3 times) okay, what is a better looking SUV? (Crickets) I’ve always felt there’s is a fine line between trolling and an opinion, especially in this chat board.
My best friend was at the launch in Tuscan; he had some pretty smart observations…. Which also make me truly question my deposit (which I haven’t finalized yet!) 1. Performance figures don’t matter much for an SUV. If they do, simply go with an Cayenne/Urus/RSQ8 and do a minor software tune. Easy 100hp and 100torque extra. It will run rings around the Puro at the highway aka the only road the Puro will trule see and thus where real life perfoermance should be measured. Ring times on SUV’s are utter useless as they have nothing to do with real world practicality.. 2. Only a V12 is available. There was zero talk about other engine’s. 3. Seems like there are a lot of “VIP” right now as there seems to be no shortage of people wanting to get one. 4. This is major point for me: The Puro is much, much smaller then the other SUV’s. My friend said think about a pretty high GTC. “ oh but that improves driveability” you might say. My response would be “ get another F car!” Reason for me why the size things maters is how the general public and non Ferrari nuts like us will look at the car. Imagine a real life situation where you/your wife will pull up at a restaurant/supermarket. An Urus/RSQ8/Cayenne puls up next to you. Those cars are visually considerably larger than the Puro and thus will make a visual bigger impact. Meaning you/the Puro will look ‘ small’. Now small generally means lesser. You can never explain to the general public why your Puro costs 2x as a Cayenne yet it smaller. That will seriously affect perceived value by a very large consumer group; non enthusiasts and women. It will have a MAJOR impact on used car sales. A very, very, very risky strategy from Ferrari. No one has to ‘ explain’ any regular Ferrari when parked somewhere as it exists in it’s own world and league. But the Puro does. I know dead on what my wife and her friends will say and it won’t be something nice….
It’s fair to say the pricing of everything is too high, and rising. Wait until the pricing of the 812 replacement puts this into perspective. I bet your collector friends will soon have their expectations adjusted.
