Right that would be for the Hypercar regs. Lambo is building an LMDh car so they will need to follow their regs instead. I really wish they could have just come up with one set of regulations that everyone followed instead of 2 separate ones where they will hopefully get the BoP right. Slight tangent, Cadillac announced the drivers for their 2 IMSA cars for next year and announced they will be running a car in WEC as well. https://racer.com/2022/09/20/cadillac-names-first-lmdh-drivers/
IMSA is 10 races, WEC only 6 so it makes sense for the 2 organisations to accept each other rules. The ACO has been running the WEC and imposing its rules for too long, IMO. Personally, I find the LMDh rules better, but the WEC has Le Mans !
I completely agree with everything you said. It should have just been 1 rule set from the start. I can't wait to see how they try to ruin GT3 racing with GT3+ or whatever they announced as the replacement for GTE.
They're good at rallyes, have won several world championships. At endurance racing they had only made the Bentley GT3 before the Glickenhaus.
In an ideal world, there would be a World Championship with Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring. But the gap between American and "rest of the world" motorsport is too big. Personally I don't like LMDh cars, they're the equivalent of Indy cars compared to F1: everything is standard except the engine and some bodywork. But that's the way Americans do things: the cars are crude but everybody can race.
Not forgetting them, it´s just that those are already in the same championship than Le Mans. Asking for the 1000 km of Nurburgring would be too much.
Everything at Lamborghini is Audi or Porsche based. They don't even hide it. My super trofeo said, Made in Germany!
There is much in common between the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Hurracan, like the same V12 5204cc engine on both.
Of course. My comment was related to the regulations for the LMDh engine if it needed to be based on a production road car engine or if it could be a bespoke racing engine. I know the Hypercar regs allow for a bespoke engine. Not sure about the LMDh regs.

What's the base engine from though ? As if they are race based engine used in rally car etc. It would not be classed as a production based engine, as its not based off a road going production model engine

2023 calendar is out and Portimao in Portugal is added! April 16. Fantastic circuit so I might go see that one, apart of Le Mans of course https://www.autohebdo.fr/actualites/endurance/wec/officiel-le-calendrier-du-wec-2023-avec-portimao.html
