+1 agree. Max and Schumacher earned their titles by superlative driving--Senna too. The Mercedes team/car/powerplant was superlative 2014-2020, any of the top tier drivers would have won those titles in their cars.

For me, personally, it will not change my opinion of Max. 0 × anything remains 0

I think you like to split hair on purpose.
Hamilton couldn't do anything else than drive the car he was given.
If the Mercedes was so superior to the others, so be it!
It's the same with Verstappen and Red Bull: at the moment they do simply a better job all around than the other teams.
In F1 the cars aren't equal, and the wheel turns too: McLaren and Williams were winning teams in the past, and aren't anymore.

william, no one is "blaming" Hamilton ... or "accusing" him of anything, other than dominating F1 during a long period of time when his car was dominant. The same can not be said of Max ... and no amount of sweeping generalizations or broad equivalences (like, "all the drivers drive the cars they're given") can make it so.

Verstappen's car has simply not been the dominant performer that Hamilton's car was, during most (if not all) of his championship years. Hamilton dominated during a time when his car stood head & shoulders above the competition; Verstappen is dominating during a time when his car is neck & neck about equal to the competition. No one is accusing Hamilton or Mercedes of cheating.

There's probably a lot of truth to the statement: "Almost any driver can win, consistently, in a car that's one second faster than the rest of the field."

There's not necessarily so much truth to the statement: "Almost any driver can win, consistently, in a car that's one hundredth of a second faster than the rest of the field."

Again, no one is accusing Hamilton or Mercedes of cheating.

Perhaps not, but you hammer the point all the time about the Mercedes domination.

It looks like you want to diminish Hamilton's achievement.

If I read between the lines, every other WDC is a worthy champion, but not Hamilton.

This is what I take exception with. I give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar: every champion merits the title, IMO.

"all the time" ... ?? I posted 3 or 4 posts, today, about Mercedes domination ... in response to a good post with real data that supports the point!

You can take what you will from the data ... but as i see it, it's a whole lot easier to dominate in a car that's consistently 0.800 sec faster, than it is in a car that's only 0.015 sec faster. We can just agree to disagree :)

Hey math expert, I have some math for you. Max can wrap up the championship with many races remaining. Do you understand that math? Look at Verstappen s points gap. Do you understand that math? Can you not see that the RB and their pitwall are on another level? Are you watching the races? Or are you too busy studying math?
As I said you haven't said anything that changes the fact anybody can win in the RB.

Where is Bottas and Rosberg multiple titles in this dominant car you speak of?

Clearly you've not been watching any of the races if this is your take on it.

Which is the bigger number, 0.015 or 0.800? 0.015 is NOT a dominating car. That's very far from a dominating car. Get that through your skull.

The failures of Ferrari is the reason why this fight is ending much earlier than needed. By all means this is a title that should be fought until the final race. What, Red Bull should park up every time Ferrari ****s up?

You and your idol seem to be on the same wave length with your selective memory.

They have none since their team mate (a certain Hamilton) got preferential treatment from the team.

In simple words: Bottas and Rosberg were not supposed to win, only to provide a backup and secure the constructors championship.

    None!

To requote the original post I was referring to:
Bottas has no WDC title at all, Rosberg only one. One is not multiple.

Yes the RB is more reliable and team is better you are agreeing with me. How many seconds does a winning car has over a dnf car? Work on that, Mr math professor.
See you all came up with the notion who ever is driving the superior car is winning because it's the car. Now you trying to use every scenario to backtrack. You ain't fooling me.

Any team serious about chasing the championship does the same. Internal fighting is destructive for a team, and has lost titles in the past.
Facts are that Mercedes was team Hamilton, just like Ferrari was team Schumacher, Renault team Alonso, Red Bull team Vettel, etc ...
Today Red Bull is team Verstappen, Ferrari is team Leclerc; etc ... Marko and Binotto are open about it.
If it's not preferential treatment (whatever that means), it's different race strategies, news updates during the season, more data access, input in car design, etc ... to give an advantage to your chosen driver. Most teams do it.

He is fooling no one but himself.

The notion that a driver you don't like only wins because of his car, but the one you favour does it only on merit is preposterous.

Yet another one that doesn't comprehend that 0.015 over the next car is NOT dominant. 0.5+ over the next fastest car, IS dominant. How is it THAT hard to comprehend?! Two of the same cloth you two.

Yes, they did exactly the same at Ferrari when Schumacher was there.

But why bring this up while we are discussing the Mercedes F1 team and Hamilton vs Bottas / Rosberg?

Why is it so difficult to admit that at least PART of Hamilton's success was due to a superior car and preferential treatment?

There is nothing to admit here !

The notion that other participants have to bow down to your opinion is ridiculous.

Please do tell me where do I ask others to bow for my opinion?

In a discussion there is room for arguments for different points of view. If you do not agree with me, feel free to provide valid counter arguments.

Or is this all you have to say? Run out of arguments??
