My 355 is not staying connected with the smog check machines. Runs like a champ but can’t get a smog check. Smog techs say that I need to replace the connector. Anyone else have a similar experience and what did you do to fix it? Las Vegas Ferrari dealer hasn’t responded to my service request so looking for help on getting this fixed. Thanks

Does he mean there is something wrong with the OBD2 port? Does the OBD2 port currently let you see normal engine data and fault codes?

Does your "smog tech" know that the ignition needs to be on and the immobiliser off?

Do you know if your car has had the OBD2 port wiring update as per Ferrari North America Bulletin FNA-22-A? (see link)

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it. I do not believe the “smog tech” knew this. Either of them. The first tech couldn’t find the OBD2 port. I’ve got an email out to the Ferrari dealer here in Las Vegas to see if they can smog the vehicle. You wouldn’t happen to know of any other Ferrari Certified techs in Las Vegas would you? I’m sue I’ll have other issues in the future so looking to establish a relationship with a great Ferrari shop in Las Vegas. Thanks again for your feedback.

Post this question in the CA/NV regional forum, no doubt you'll get some good recommendations.

I’m in CA, just passed but not surprised as Fast Cars just performed engine out in the past 6 months. Car was in storage for a while so I was a bit concerned but she did well. When I take her in, I work through a tutorial with the smog check guys, I actually volunteer to connect the ODB as its a bear to reach, I explain the emergency brake (one year they tried to do it with the brake on), and step them through the use of the immobilizer.

OP, listen to the above advice. The baked 24 year old at the smog shop knows nothing about 355's. All he knows is that he wants a bong hit. You have to take the lead.

maybe someone didn’t do the update properly. It was simple and some just use quicky wire connections. Over the years those can degrade…hence intermittent connections
