I just can’t understand the logic to this car unless to keep the shareholders happy with added revenue and profits. So take my AF Coupe, in the UK if I add all Carbon bits interior & exterior and the Carbon engine bay and trunk, which I would imagine will be included in the supposed VS, it will come to £500,000 not including stripe. So if this car comes with an extra 50/70 hp and rumored more aggressive rear wing and downforce, the VS upprice will have to be at least £50,000/£70,000 more, meaning minimum £550,000/£570,000 before options like livery and any convenient features. To give me what exactly, 0-60 in 1 tenth quicker reduced top speed due to rumored vast rear wing, which might look awful aesthetically.. I just don’t see it personally, only way for me to get my head round it, is if the car is limited to only 500 and the LAFerrari replacement is V6 Hybrid engine and this VS has a V8 and more HP than the LAFerrari replacement…
The electric motors system weighs about 270kg total IIRC. But also if you could live without reverse gear (on SF90 it's front electric motors which deliver the reverse propulsion, thus making the regular gearbox a bit lighter ) BTW 'Hybrid to ICE' regression in Ferrari model only took place on the 296GTB when transforming it into a GT3 car.
Unless this is a racing car which has to abide by a certain set of rules, there is zero chance of foregoing electrification.
Besides F8 - Ferrari's doing this for decades. Coupe and Spider with aero the more the better Lamborghini Porsche Mclaren now Ferrari - hoping it's an active wing.
Yes I know this but we have never had Assetto Fiorano package option as an option, which includes Carbon door cards that would only be available on a VS version. Also has the VS weight reduction and more aggressive suspension system, for what exactly, 0-60 in 2.2 instead of 2.3.. also going up from 660hp 488 to 720hp 488 Pista and weight loss is a bigger feeling than going 1000 hp to 1050 hp from an Assetto Fiorano SF90 to SF90 VS.. If it’s the rear wing I saw on a car in January then it won’t be a looker..
Actually the wing unless active will slow 0 - 60. SF 90AF 868 pounds downforce is way too low but imagine it with proper downforce. Senna has 1700+ of downforce. SF90 vs AM Lambo etc all incoming - understand AF should have had a wing.
Senna also weigh 900 pounds less than the SF90. With air passing over the car at high speed they essentially weigh the same.
High downforce street cars make for an exciting engineering experiment and crazy styling but don’t really impact the driving experience on public roads (autobahn excepted).

In LD mode, the mobile element is flush with the rear screen, allowing air to flow over it and making it invisible to the flow. When deployed to its maximum height (HD), the mobile element creates a 135 degree angle with the surface of the rear screen, thus generating around 95 kg of downforce at 250 km/h yet increasing drag by a mere 4%. In medium downforce mode (MD), the mobile element generates around 30% of maximum downforce with an increase in drag of under 1%. The mechanism is activated by an electric motor in relation to speed and longitudinal and lateral acceleration. In low speed situations, when downforce has only a modest impact on the car’s performance, the spoiler automatically goes into LD position. This configuration is maintained until the car hits a speed of 100 km/h.
hello guys, Derek here.. the photographer of the SF90vs pictures. some quick information. the car is still running with a Hybrid V8 turbo engine, and she doesn´t sound heavier or different then a normal SF90. The informaton I recieved told me that the design difference is not that big with the sf90. If we look closely this SF90vs we see a big construction around the rear spoiler that is significant bigger, The rest of the rear is still the same. also the front is camouflaged for testing out the new S duct option. The car is car currently in hands of MM service (An external company that is preparing the media cars and is doing testwork for ferrari) The car is currently is a testfase where she is doing at least 200km each day.
Tell you what - hold your iPhone out the window sideways and then flat to the wind with the same two fingers or use your hand doing same at 70 mph. Let us know Imagine that X to equal size of a wing.
I’m not denying the existence of downforce, I’m just saying that it’s not what’s holding your car on the road…. unless of course you’re tripling the speed limit through a high speed corner. The impact on braking distance is also only realized under extreme deceleration from high speeds, which is not a typical event on public roads. Tracking is a different matter.
Ok but I disagree and it does hold your car to the road. A 360 Challenge car vs 430 Challenge car in a corner - 360 will overtake a 430 because of the wing - I had one and corners are not high speed. My Senna and Viper in a corner - both massive wings are engineered with other aero to make the front and rear balance the car with canards etc. Wings are just one part - engineers know they need to modify the front and rear for balance - the wing is one of many parts that make is possible. I think you are saying it doesn't help - my point is the engineering of balance and downforce are more important than anything else when you buy a car that is made for driving. My Carrera GT wing deployed at 70 mph - there is a reason and you can feel the car become stable, the car was designed by the worlds best and today is one of the best drivers car ever built. Some people don't like wings some do - Ferrari makes both but to say the wing isn't usable on the road is just not true. Put a car on the rack - look underneath and see how smooth is it for reason. My Senna even has wood strips integrated to the carbon front underside. Anyway my guess is aero added up front and rear on the SF90 VS. Went to the Pursosangue debut - even the carbon fiber panels around the wheels have aero openings. It all matters.
Timed out - wanted to add. Carrera GT wing lowers again at 37 mph - which addresses what Porsche believed.
I didn't say it's not helping. Are you taking corners (on the street) faster in your Senna than in your 765LT because of the extra aero?
Love aero - racing engineers wind testing extremely expensive to provide and engage. Brakes can't stop these cars alone - speaking of Mclaren that aero air brake works. Porsche thought it was important on way less hp on their GT3. To answer your question I would not push a road car to figure out fastest times / spin, but appreciate more grip from aero than less. The SF90 has 1000 hp do you not want more brakes and tire on the surface? 812 GTS vs Superfast - added zero on windscreen and diffuser etc.
They don't have same hp, the two cars are worlds apart in engineering. Senna has an active wing the SF90 weight doesn't change - so they are only similar when the Senna uses it's downforce. Anyway - Ferrari is now competing with the SF90, went to Indy set track record - when was the last time that happened? I love track setting cars and appreciate the efforts made. Tailor made cars are over 900k and paint options 10 - 40k. Shields 16k stripes 30k. Ferrari is never going to make sense if that's what you are saying.

Nice photos, but what makes me really curious here is - when the SF90 VS will be revealed. Is it possible this year?
