Had a desire for sushi so we went to Sth Melbourne Market and bought fresh sushi grade tuna and salmon served it with Burnt butter scallops and prawns. Then couldn’t resist the fresh mussels so the next night I made a bucket of steamed mussels in wine, garlic, herbs and smoked paprika.. Movies are such a pain. Finding one to watch, which is very rare, reminds me of wandering around Blockbuster. Nothing has changed.

    ^ Tasty looking!

I kind of miss going into Blockbuster and selecting a movie. In some ways easier over my TV shows and movies on demand from my cable provider. Although the on demand lets me catch up on missed episodes of TV shows.

When we cut cable we lost TCM. We miss it. Always fun to watch old movies.

Thanks. 4 min each side and then it was still only 95F, so put some double folded foil on the grill and put the steak on top of that with a pat of butter on top. Went another 4 min like that (heat off under it, but on to the side of it). Ended up medium, and was surprisingly juicy and tender. (Was only choice beef)

I bought a small pork roast at the farmers market last Thursday. Was hoping for a loin roast, love doing them with some pesto on the grill. But all he had was a shoulder roast. So I put it in the crock pot this morning with some tomatoes and carrots and onion. Used some spice blends I had to season it. Had some tomatoes left so grabbed some onion and cilantro out of the garden and made a quick pico de gallo. Ended up spilling that all over myself and the kitchen floor when I went to pull it out of the fridge. Oh well, there was enough left to make some kind of pulled pork tacos.

    Pretty tasty and easy dinner.

It was quite good for an Italian restaurant in a small west Texas town where - I am guessing - there isn't a large Italian population.

Now on to movies! As far as genres, silent films and pre-code Hollywood. I can easily be talked into watching almost anything by the great Japanese directors, especially Ozu.

Fave US movies...Grand Hotel (1932), The Big Parade (1925), The Grapes of Wrath (1940). Favorite international...Late Spring (1949).

OK, back to food. Finally cooling off a tad, so my first soup of the fall. Also, a good opp to use my new All Clad pot, which has gotten less mileage than a limited edition Ferrari! [emoji6] Chicken, celery, onion, Italian herbs and spices, S&P, broth, fortified at the end with a little white rice. Just like grandma used to make.

Oh yum yum! I wish they'd leave the head on the duck at restaurants here, but I'm weird that way! [emoji2]

The old movies are just great. William Blake’s Grand Hotel and Ozu Tokyo story are a good watch. Love the soup. Cheers:)

Chicken sandwiches the last two nights. Finished off the chicken breasts in the freezer. Tonight, its restaurant food. Several things on my mind. Lasagna or Fish N Chips or sushi or prime rib at the diner. I'll decide later.
