Sure it is aerodynamics but not from the aerobridge, trust me it's just a gimmick.

Yup, they needed to visually break the ultra long bonnet. And in the end that's right, they came up with one of the most beautiful cars ever IMO. Thong rear, whatever, just beautiful. And the tdf also, fins and flicks, whatever, just stunning!

@MDEL I found a discussion specifically on the F12 aerobridge somewhere else. Neither authorised opinions it seems, but opinions after all, I agree with a couple of the posters, you'll know which ones: https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/ferrari-f12-aerobridge-25067-3.html

And sorry all about the offtopic.

I do not intend to turn this matter into a controversy. However looking at the 599 GTB and its successor the F12 Berlinetta, the former has a less sophisticated hood only with louvers and at 200 Km/h creates a downforce of 70 Kg while the latter, equipped with the aerobridges, manages to produce 123 Kg which is over 75%. Given this significant difference, how can we say that the innovative aerodynamic elements that were introduced in the F12 Berlinetta are merely aesthetic?

Yes, F12 was shat on for its looks, 812 was also shat on, SF90 shat on, PS is being shat on, and why? It’s like Ferrari brings out a new car and some with older cars feels obsolete or something and have to throw barbs, especially in their beginning.

Then the cars get delivered and people start driving them and the sure, knee jerk reactions fall by the wayside. These are all beautiful cars with insane powertrains for heavens sake. If you really love cars you’ll find appreciation in them. Negativity gets tired cycle after cycle, doesn’t it?

I like how they have left turn signal permanently on. They'll fit in perfectly around here! [emoji6]

I think it looks good in motion, somewhat indistinguishable from other CUVs/lifted coupes in the absence of the scudetti on the side. Of course, Ferrari V12 under the hood is a difference maker. I think only Bentley and RR offer a 12 cylinder SUV?

VW used to produce the Touareg W12; engine is now fitted with two turbos under the hood of the Bentayga.

I join you in the fact that without the Cavallini the Purosangue can’t really be recognized as a Ferrari - is mainly true by the fact that nobodies has ever seen a SUV/Crossover from Ferrari on the streets before. We’ll get used to it and will be able to differentiate it.

OK. Thanks. I thought Bentley 12 cylinder was non-turbo, but I see now that it is turbo. So, 12 cylinder NA is essentially unique in the space of SUV/CUV/FUV/whatever the heck this thing is!

Aerobridge turns airflow downwards, which means it is creating lift instead of downforce. There is a chance that louvres (hidden by airbridges) might reduce drag marginally, as they prevent airflow from hitting the windscreen directly.

But mostly it is just a beautiful design element in F12, particularly the effect it does for the side profile.

The downforce increase comes from somewhere else, most likely from the floor and rear spoiler.

Easy answer, because they're completely different cars, they produce different downforce figures. Only if they were exactly the same shape except for the hood area you could infer that the difference in downforce is produced by the difference in the hood area.

Have you seen some of the cars Ferrari has been selling lately. Can you say FF? Oh, and what about quality control? My Toyota has 140k miles and no sticky buttons.

Some of you are over the top fan boys. You will buy anything Ferrari makes. This is not good for the company.

And this right here is why it’s such a dumb comment (at least you’re consistent). Just because I like something you don’t doesn’t mean I’d buy anything they sell. Try to look beyond your own self view and realize people can have different tastes and not be blind “fan boys”. The world is a big place and its orbit isn’t limited to you at the center.

Now go enjoy your Toyota. They make great cars.

So that excuses a dopey comment that insults every Ferrari owner here? I don’t care if he owned every model they made and hates them all. It’s his opinion and no one said he was wrong for having it. That’s the difference. If someone likes what he doesn’t then they’re wrong for having that opinion and are “fan boys” that don’t understand what a “turd” is.

It’s classic narrow minded thinking. Turns out people can like different things and we’ll all be ok. Insults not needed.

Yes, underperforming W12 in the B and V12 in the RR, both tt, and products of VAG and BMW respectively, those parts bin pieces hold no comparison to a bespoke Ferrari NA V12, all the more rare in that factor.
