An AMOC NSW club member was down for the weekend and ask me to go - he's the editor of the NSW magazine (I do the VIC magazine) so we have become firm friends and swap articles. I'll be going again on Sunday with another group of friends. Have to admit, it's a bit pricey at $50 a pop, otherwise I would've gone on Saturday too to catch up with you. I love the sharing of opinions as much as looking at the cars.
We’re lucky to have it in our backyard mate The best part about going to a show is sharing it with like minded friends. Speaking of opinions, I have to agree with you about the lighter blues on older cars. There’s a real sense of elegance that’s just not there with most of the moderns…. The Veyron is the perfect comparison… Mind you I’d still have it I’m really looking forward to seeing Pete’s Sebring!
Something like this Greg? From an event last weekend. There really was something there for most on here…. I should get around to uploading some pics. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rennie, what's the story with that yellow X1/9 special (at least that's what I think it is); the Giocattolo is the Sunny Coast one I mentioned recently - he gets around!
Oh no even you couldn't have made THAT mistake... It's a Lambo Silhouette. There is no X19 there Karen........unless I'm blinder than I thought.
Hi Karen, yes it a Lambo Silhouette, precursor for the Jalpa, built on the Urraco platform. Well done Simon and Rob (for knowing the production numbers). There's a absolutely beautiful grigio one in Melbourne - I've got pics of it on my other computer - it regularly attended the Ferrari concours (still does I think but no longer on the same park - shame really). I always wanted to take a photo of my old 308 next to it but I was too lazy. Never happened. I was an idiot. I like Giocattolo's quite a bit.
I cheated and Googled production numbers , is that Bermans ? What is your pick of the event so far Rennie?
I reckon the last time I saw one for sale was in Unique cars in the early noughties before I went to japan in 2003. It was a white one with those classic B45 Simmons. Even the wheels were ALL white if my memory serves me correctly. Like you, haven't seen one since. I owned a 87 Sud Sprint, so I have a huge spot spot for these.
You cheat LOL The cliche answer is 246 or Daytona but that Grifo was amazing. The LP 400 was a stand out too as was the 63 Vette. As I also said, I wanted to say the 208 Turbo or Khamsin were my pick but spec all wrong for me. The thing is, the true beauty of a car is seeing it in the wild. Context is everything. Also, different day, different mood, different choice. Hence top 5. But I tell ya again, that Grifo was really something (wheels apart). It was the surprise car for me. P.S I love Miura's too but I don't understand why Giugiaro doesn't get (at least) some credit for it as his finger prints are all over it. Seeing that white Miura, I keep seeing the Chevrolet Testudo show car Giugiaro designed. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
