My business partner in the 1990s had chassis 005. White/grey. He did a lot of engine development and managed to get around 330HP at the rear wheels. It was very very fast, at least for me at the time. However its handling was unresolved. It used to sway between under and oversteer mid corner and was a real handful. He eventually backed it into a wall at Sandown, luckily minor damage. He was terrified of it after that and sold it. It used to draw two black lines in second gear out of slower corners with ease. I think with some suspension development if could be very good. It sounded fabulous.

After walking around a bit this morning, I can only comment on the cars I've driven however I would add the 28,000km 450 SE to the list along with the the P300 Urraco. I also liked the blue 911 T Targa in LHD, the 930 3.0 and the XW GT-HO Phase II. I prefer the Phase II over the Phase III.

From a purely aesthetic perspective, I'd take the Miura S over the SV now I've seen the two together. But oddly, I'd take an LP400S (low roof, no spoiler) over an LP400.

    Oh, and the McLaren M10.

I know you love to pull yourself over the styling of cars, don't you think it's interesting how the Fioravanti cars appear (at least to me) to be less colour sensitive than say those of Bertone, and specifically Giugiaro. For example, imagine these cars in red:

    Maserati 3200
    Iso Grifo
    Mangusta
    Ghibli
    Khamsin
    308 GT/4

However in the period softer metalised hues and flat greens, ochres, argento and green, they really pop.

Whilst the same applies to Pininfarina, they seem to be able to get away with a modern repaint in a non original colour better than most.

David I was my usual Saturday judging self, went back this morning before it opened to have a better look. No exhibiting, no glory holes, however it was good to have a chat with PeterW, SeanB, MilesS, GraemeW and a whomb or two.

Red is not the best colour for the LP400. They are best in the browns and golds (Oro Rolls Royce or Oro Longchamps the pick). Actually, Lambo or Ferrari are generally better looking in anything other than red.

I’ve met the owner of the white XY GT with the stripe delete and it is just mint. It’s been continually registered since new even the number plates are the original issue from ‘71.

I noticed a ribbon the the Miura S, what did it win?

Can't afford a Miura. Or an M10, for that matter. But a Countach has to have the guards and wing - if that makes them less valuable, excellent!
