The reaction of accusing the winner of cheating is old hat.
It looks like people polarise too much on the budget cap as an excuse for their failure.
Has nobody ever considered that sometimes you can achieve more for less?

Well, technically Ferrari weren't caught. The massive pace drop from Japan to the US in 19' - forward, told the story. There was no need for an FIA probe to prove anything, actually. The circumstances simply vindicated Horner's accusation.

The fact is that only Red Bull are still being audited, and that's because clearly the auditors saw something that couldn't be explained away by simple accounting, or it wouldn't be going on this long. The FIA are obviously going to clean this up, and allow Red Bull an off ramp.

Again, Horner could crush the rumors by showing the audit letter.

That would give credibility to trials by media.

    Three things can be true.

    1. Red Bull breaching the budget cap after yelling from the mountain tops that simple chump change could swing the title is hypocrisy.
    2. It's none of the FIA's business what teams spend, and they have a fundamental right to.
    3. Red Bull did a better job regardless of sorting their cars problems than Ferrari or Mercedes did.

If Ferrari or Mercedes thought they could sneak an expensive modification to eliminate porpoising earlier in the season, they would've done so. They didn't because they didn't have any such solution in the pipeline, budget cap or not.

Don't threaten me with a good time.

The trouble in F1 is that many people cannot keep their mouth shut.

I don’t understand any of this crap. What if they spent 10 mil extra? Doesn’t mean they gained any advantage. The issue is because they won the WDC. Merc made the biggest gains I’ve ever seen from mid season on last year.

As suggested on SKY the teams that are clear should have their certifications made public. By default those not clear would be evident.

This is typical trial by media ! Of course a TV channel would suggest that: it's bread and butter for them !!!

Well the public is asking and wanting to know. Those that are not under audit should be told so. With no public there is no sport. It only serves to promote the further conspiracy of anything about F1 or life now. I fully agree with the FIA releasing certifications to those in compliance with that data public. No loss at all for the FIA. Further delays gets nothing but conjecture and stupidity rampant lol

    We may disagree there.

I find the media too much "opinion forming" to my taste, and I wish they could only report on facts.
Giving some parties the tools to spread accusative rumours and maintaining a climate of suspicion isn't their job.
Everyday we hear new opinions about potential cheating solicited by the media: this is becoming crazy.
I think its Napoleon who said "What is not official doesn't exist!", and I agree with that.
At the end of the day, this may come to nothing, but people have been stired up into a frenzy and the split among supporters increased.

I wonder if the FIA will delay the report for another week?

IMHO I think they delayed the announcement to spare RB/Honda the embarrassment/controversy/distraction at their home race. If it were another team then why the delay? It is embarrassing that the 2022 is almost over and the numbers for 2021 are still being vetted. FIA is looking more and more amateurish.

I just thought about this. Perhaps they wanted to be out of Japan before they made their announcement? You know, like get out of Dodge!

What are they waiting for to release the report? It’s almost end of the work day in Europe—are they planning to do this in the middle of the night?

Apparently Red Bull went over by around 1 million USD, not on car development but catering and sick leave...! Waiting on official news now.

    From what I found:

F1 news: Red Bull guilty of ‘minor’ breach to Formula One cost cap
Red Bull have been found in ‘minor’ breach of Formula One’s cost cap with an FIA statement due around 4pm today confirming the news according to The Daily Mail.

How much Red Bull overspent will not be specified by the governing body but it is believed to be close to £1.8 million more than the £114 million budget allowed.

That is classed as a ‘minor’ breach of the rules and as such Max Verstappen will not be stripped of his 2021 world title in favour of Lewis Hamilton which was an extreme possibility had they overspent by close to £10m, something Mercedes suggested last week could be the case last week.

The Mail reports that no other team has over-spent although Aston Martin will be found to have made a ‘procedural’ mistake when filling out cost forms.
