Top 10 of all time? That's some tough competition ... but, given that the RB18 is poised to become Newey's most successful design to date, my vote would have to be: yes

    Let's see:

    1) there's the MP4/4
    2) the FW14B
    3) F399, F1-2000, F2002, F2003GA, F2004
    4) R25, R26
    5) RB6, RB7, RB8, RB9
    6) W05, W06, W07, W08, W09, W10, W11
    7) RB18

Yeah, it certainly is up there.

The problem is that "of all time" is unbounded.

So, consider that there is F1 racing every year for the next 1,000 years.
It is very likely that no car made to the present time will be on the 10 best of all time list.

That is the question was ask in a foolish manner. This could be salvaged by inserting the words "to current" at the end of the sentence.

That depends very much on what metrics are used or ignored. Considering how close the Ferrari is (or earlier in the season, how close Red Bull was to Ferrari), I'm going to say no. Quite a hard no, really.

If we're purely using race results as a metric then that all changes, but IMO a top 10 car of all time has to be head and shoulders above it's direct competition. So that's the Mercedes 14/15/16/19/20 cars, Red Bull 2011 and 2013, Ferrari F2002, F2004, Brawn GP001, Williams FW14b, Mclaren MP4/4...and that's just off the top of my head.

This might be a depressing thought for many but I believe this thread can be started again next year with the RB19 in the title, and that might well be worthy of the title.

Excellent list. I might add the FW11B, or if you don't want to add that, remove one of the Ferrari's, but that's minor nit picking.

It easily had the best race pace over the course of the season. That much is for sure.

I don't think the best of all time has to dominate the other cars during that year, but, sure, any debate depends on your metrics. My favorite metric is percentage of wins in a season, but even there the huge number of races now makes it much more difficult than the 1950s. With that metric, say RB wins 2 more of the 4 remaining races, it's a pretty good car if it's Newey's best.
