Slides off easily. (not an interference fit)

Would like to see a photo of the damage.

Alternative view: if you had a home garage and can do an engine-out yourself, you could probably have this car on the road for cheap. Tires aren't bald, just old. Pull the engine, do a bunch of while you're in there stuff, and enjoy a ratty 355 that you don't mind driving regularly.

Alternative to the alternative: If it needs an engine rebuild, this is a parts car.

I love this idea.. it's just what does it really need is the scary part. Parts aren't cheap if you can even get them. What you really need is 2 of these.. to make 1 good one.

I fear someone's already had their fun with this one and there may not be much left.

YES! IT would make a good parts car, and I immediately thought of one of the cars Ken posted (I believe the transmission was shot in that car) that was otherwise a nice looking driver. That's a lot of effort, but for the right guy it makes sense.

Has anyone listened to the engine running towards the end of the video? A cylinder or two not firing? Thoughts?

Definitely not. A 355 has no problem running on 6 other than it sounds a little muffled. That sounds like a serious problem. Something broken in side. I'd say the engine was toast. Maybe a broken valve bouncing around in a cylinder. Who knows.

Charitably, it could be a fueling or weak spark issue and starts only with starter fluid? Even then if it ran even slightly smoothly you'd think they'd post a video of that. Realistically its "won't start unless you buy the car and assist through fixing whatever is wrong". :]

The seller is trying really hard to convince viewers it's not as bad as it looks. Doesn't even know where the main cat is. He's either dumb or playing dumb.

Probably the most valuable part of that car is the manual shifter parts. I'm not kidding. Probably $15k right there.

I did that with my Spider, but it has a clean CARFAX, good color. New clutch. Dealer serviced and spectacular nice driving with Zero issues. $96k plus tax. That was Feb 2022 Market. Over paid now, but hopefully smiles per mile will come back around. As long as it stays above John Pricing Level, I am good :)

We all know the term “Cheap Ferrari”…. I would rather pay $30-40k more for what I have. Not sure it is a steal at $35k [emoji2373]

I figured the speedometer TMU was the main issue, but didn't seem like there was much discussion around it in the comments.

BTW. The front and rear bumpers are definitely euro bumpers with U.S spec side reflectors put in. Probably early on to pass U.S standards. I'm curious though, why would someone feel the need to bring in a 355 Berlinetta from Europe in 2004? Were they scarce back then too?

My point ... there hasn't been a clean manual Berlinetta and perhaps U.S spec, on BAT in a long time. Every car brought up has something significant enough that would cause buyers to hesitate and I think the hammer prices are reflecting that. Euro spec 355's also have roadblocks to registration in CA. I don't know if it's as easy as some make it out to be. CA is a pretty big collector car market.

I have been researching for days on how to get a euro-spec 71-74 Alfa GTV I want to import to CA for registration. Pre-76 is smog exempt as well. You'd think it'd be easy, it's not. My research is inconclusive. My impression is there is a chance someone at the DMV could overlook things and hand you a CA plate, but that's not exactly a sound strategy.

My point, excuses, excuses, excuses. "B's are worth $xxx,000, except that one , and that one :eek:, and that one over there :eek::eek:,...." :)

The last Carfax mar-free, non-TMU, U.S spec manual Berlinetta on BAT was the one I bought ;). That was March 2021.
