F8 Aftermarket Wheels and Tires

Ok to start this out; Who has put aftermarket wheels and tires on their F8? Secondly has anyone had any issues with the ADS camera (reads speed limit signs from what i understand).

What im getting at is I put Novitec wheels and a little bigger tires on these wheels which have made a huge difference in handling and better traction. But my ADS camera has been malfunctioning, which i actually have seen the go to dealer to get fixed warning pop up even before i put aftermarket wheels and tires on my car.

So i went into San Fran Ferrari service and they are claiming my aftermarket wheels and tires have caused the issue (couple of cm higher or lower with aftermarket shoes). The service manager i talked to stated she could void my warranty as this is probably whats causing my camera to malfunction. She claims i need to put stock wheels and tires back on for testing for them to prove its not what is causing the issue. . . . To be fair the dealership is about 200 miles away so its not like a oh yea let me put them on and ill brb. But i find this quite ridiculous as ive never seen anyone else posting about this causing an issue and for them to possibly void my warranty because of this; kind of mind blowing.

Has anyone had similar issues? any input would be fantastic thanks.

 

interesting. . . i couldnt see the car being off by almost 1/10th of an inch (higher in the rear so front end is literally a little lower) as i just measured it with the stock tires on vs aftermarket wheels/tires, causing the camera which only reads speed limit signs any issues. guess they should invest in better camera's to read the speed limits if 1/10 of an inch causes it to malfunction. \

Ive put almost 12k miles on my car with these wheels and tires and had no other issues. Just the camera which reads speed limit signs, which they are saying is because my car is 1/10th of an inch lower in the front end now over stock. . . and that may void my entire warranty lol

 

That’s exactly what I’m getting at. No way a couple of cm difference in either the front or rear would throw off a camera which reads numbers on signs that are all different heights.

 

245/30 21 front and 335/25 22 on rear.

 

I know they are extremely picky about stuff you put on your car. Just funny they didn’t say a thing about my exhaust but they brought up my wheels and tires. Lol. I was just blown away they would tell me I could possibly void my warranty because of that. And I understand if the mod causes the issues, but there is no way that caused my ADS camera to have issues.

And second Ferrari. I had a 85 328gts which I sold about 10 years ago. Obviously never touched anything on that car.

They need to reset the ADS system to try and fix it. I guess it takes 8 hours to reset that system, so they wouldnt touch it without my stock wheels and tires on it since it would have to be warranty work. Which makes no sense as well, since i know the issue started right when i was driving it 200 miles home from the dealership the warning light came on for ADS camera malfunction. So ive really never even used the system except for maybe 50 miles or so, i saw the little speed limit signs pop up on my screen telling me when the limits changed. Since then ive put 12,000 miles on the car without using that system which i dont even need in the first place as i can use waze on carplay to tell me the speed limits lol.

But obviously ill be putting the stock wheels and tires back on to go in for my yearly service next month and get the system reset and prove to them it will still malfunction with stock wheels and tires.

 

Ah yes! It is turned off. BUT everytime i start the car it has the popup for 60 seconds which says ADS Failure, See Dealership for Service. Takes up majority of the left LCD Screen.

And after i clear the screen it still has the ADS Symbol which stays on the screen permanently.

 

I haven’t! I don’t even know where the fuse box is lol. I guess I could figure out what fuse runs the ADS and check it out!

 

I will try. Even with it off it says its still malfunctioning though. But ill give it a shot.

 

Yes indeed the overall height is higher, but like I said the slant of the car is only off by 1/10th of an inch .4in vs .5in now difference from front to rear ride height difference. And road signs are all different heights and road surfaces are all different slope. So makes no sense why this would make the front camera malfunction. . . And the fact that this wasn’t working when I had stock wheels and tires on means it absolutely wasn’t that.

and yes I get that. At 214 on my Speedo I had two gps units running showing I was going 220.8 and 221.1 mph. So the Speedo is definitely off. But my 0-60 also went down to a 2.62 second avg which I have been able to repeat multiple times. Stock I was doing a 2.84 0-60. I also had the exhaust installed so that added approximately 37hp and 22ft/lbs. but the traction issues have been completely solved with the 335’s. Main issue I had was traction on 0-60 runs.

novitec wheels and the tires I chose together are slightly lighter if I recall but I can’t find the specs on my wheels/tires. I will weigh them tomorrow.

but yes I understand everything you have said. But I feel there’s no way a .1 or 1/10th of an inch change in the slope of vehicle can affect a camera that reads road signs of all shapes and sizes and heights.
