They would be like any 60’s/70’s Italian exotic, they would have to be set up right and restored mechanically properly.

I think you do a disservice to the Ghibli Rob.

Of course, Horse is naturally right about restoring and setting up the car.

But its also easy to forget just how significant the Ghibli styling was in its day, much like the E-type.

When the Ghibli came out in late 1966, it was the first significant production car that really started to use flatter and squarer surfaces and at the time, it made something as outrageously beautiful like the 275 seem outdated and old fashioned.

For a brief moment in time, that and the Mangusta (also late 1966) were considered the most beautiful cars in the world and Giugiaro's work ushered in a new era of car styling.

In terms of car styling, I'd argue the Ghibli is more important than the E-type by introducing the 'wedge' to the mainstream.

I think people under value the Ghibli because it had a V-8 rather than a V12 and live axle.

I have no idea how they really drive but contemporary and recent articles suggest they are very good albeit not the ultimate.

I agree Rennie good looking car (space age for the period) and light years ahead of an E-type .

I've never driven one, I was forwarding the comments by a previous owner and a well know Ferrari guy (Daytona owner) in fact both previous Daytona owners and with various 275's.

The V8 to the V12 is never going to be a winner in the eyes of many collectors/owners .?

    All good Rob.

As good as a Ghibli may be, it isn't going to beat a 275 or Daytona overall or as a pure driving machine, so the previous owners comments are entirely valid and absolutely correct. Compared to a 275 or a Daytona, it is less special.

    If anything, its about context.

Alfieri (Maserati engineer) & Bertocchi (Maserati's test driver) designed the cars to be proper GTs and to drive in that intended manner, so dynamically, Ghibli's are less sporting.

Well I 'll be f@@ked, your Emira isn't being built in a lock up under a railway line according to Harry! Looks like a semi-professional organisation. Will be worth the wait.

    Yay!

Can’t wait to get it. The communication is woeful, however. For two weeks I’ve been told I’ll get an update next day.
And after watching that, the fact that China is being prioritised probably explains it.

However, if that means they get all the **** ones, fine.

I think it will be a very enjoyable car to drive.
Maybe I’ll have to get Simon or Whom to show me how to drive it?

Nope. It'll be easier to drive than the 355, and more exploitable closer to the limit, too.
