Can you put your high bid in as your first bid with them?
    I've never bid at Lloyds.

Here's the linkfor the rest of the car.

For $400k less than an awful colour change wrongly awarded platinum S2 I think I could live with LHD!

After much searching for a 488 GTB at the right price and colour, I have finally an opportunity to pick up a very nicely speced car off market. The only missing option is that it has no Shields. How important are these in the market? It seems that cars without shields tend to sit around awhile.

Congratulations, Warren! Make sure you post some pics.

Shields seem to be a personal preference. Some people (me) think the cars look better with them.

Some boring old farts bang on about how they shouldn’t be on Ferrari road cars, blah blah yawn…

As far as I’m concerned if they were an option from the Factory then it’s perfectly fine to have them (and as I said the cars look better with them IMO). If my old car didn’t already have them I definitely would have got them during my ownership.

Bottom line is - it’s up to you. It’s your car - do what you want.

    Most importantly, ignore the “experts”.
Pretty much every single thing I was told about my car by the “experts” turned out to be completely wrong.

Depends on how historically correct you want to be Warren.

As Steve has mentioned the 'old farts',me and some others, prefer the correctness of not having them on.
Others,Steve and a bunch of others here, think they're fine and lovely.

It's a case of do what you want,if you leave 'em off then the next owner has your choice as well,if you stick 'em on then the next owner won't have the option to remove except at great cost relative to the type of shield fitted, as I understand.

If you choose to leave them off you will gain kudos from the proper enthusiast!!..most important around here! :)

..........and well done on your purchase.

I think shields serve a very useful purpose on modern era road-going Ferraris.

If you see an owner with shields on his car, you know he's a clueless wanker. Saves a ton of time :)

They’re even better for winding up the fossils.

I think the people whom buy the modern cars are so used to seeing them that it would be a bit weird to see one without.

I quite like my shields, & I don't think of myself as clueless. But a 308GT4 is also hardly historic in the sense of adhering to those historic values.IMHO.
