There is more than one -- I just picked up my gated GTS w/carbon fiber sport seats! from the port this past Tuesday and have another gated GTS on the boat as we speak! We also have another gated GTS that is in our shop (Automotive International) having a major service done which was imported a couple months ago. I also know another local individual that I spoke to this past weekend who said he just imported one. So that is four in the Charlotte area and the one in Atlanta that is on BAT right now. My two will be for sale once they are prepped and serviced - and of course titled here in the states which can take a while. Incidentally, for those thinking of bringing one over now, there are MAJOR shipping delays. I was just informed by my shipping broker that major ports in Germany have stopped accepting ANY new cars into port until January at the earliest to give them time to clear the backlog. This backlog is not necessarily due to volume but simply having enough workers at port to move cars and goods around PLUS anything related to Ukraine, whether military or humanitarian supplies, gets priority at the expense of everything else. So be prepared for the possibility of your car sitting outside or in a hot container for a couple of months - unless of course you want to pay to ship via air!
A friend air freighted his gorgeous '94 512TR over a couple of months back. Shockingly reasonable compared to a 20' container all to yourself and the car arrived quite quickly. Plus you get to drive it away right off the plane/pallets, which is certainly a pretty cool experience.
When did the 355 switch from black brake duct hoses to the orange/red? Was is specific to a country/destination too?
My car is 1995 had factory orange ducts. My 1998 had orange too. Only black ones I saw in an Australian delivered car was a very late F1.
Well you can have conviction and still a need to pay the bills I think the guys doing the best are able to sell the same cars over and over which is probably more profitable than holding forever.
I believe most car dealers have self-trained to refrain from emotional attachments to cars. If I was a dealership, I'd probably go out of business. I'd have a bunch of cars and unwilling to sell .
@johnk... Not lookin' good for the most beautiful Ferrari ever made. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1980-ferrari-308gtbi-3/
Aesthetics has noting to do with price. If it did, 355 spiders would be at the top. Or should I say prices has nothing to do with aesthetics? Look at those ugly duckling Dinos for example.
This is what I'm talking about. Spider beauty! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-ferrari-512-tr-19/ This 512TR went through dry ice cleaning from a shop called, I Am Detailing in Costa Mesa, CA. I have brought up and recommended them before. I believe the hourly rate is $200. Results are pretty good, but I prefer to have some components removed while cleaning. Who knows, I might end up finishing off with a few hour session there someday. Let's see how much this 512TR hammers for .
Yes I can see what you're talking about. A roof, buttresses and wrap around rear window are such an eyesore compared to a beige couch
Completely miss the point. Last thing I want on a beautiful day like the ones shown is to be confined in an air conditioned box. I'll be in one of those permanently soon enough. Beauty is not the car alone. That's why I hardly drive my 308 any more unless the temps are below 60*.
No I don't believe I missed the point. Aesthetics is aesthetics. Experience of an open top car at the expense of aesthetics isn't aesthetics. I understand it's different and can be nice. I have a convertible myself. Also feel the coupe version of the convertible I own is a better looking vehicle. JMO
You know, I don't argue that. The B is a beautiful car. And I agree, it the best looking 355 (don't repeat that, I'll deny it ) and mechanically most sound version of the 355. I don't like the GTS no matter what prices say. It's not that rare as there are only 600 or so more spider gate cars. GTS just look ugly with the top off. I bought mu 308 GTB because I want for the best looking version. Don't drive it much anymore. But since then, sports cars for me have to be topless. Also should have kept my Boxter. Some days I really regret selling it for the Cayman. Cayman is great for serious driving, better than any 355, but on a warm sunny day I want to be out there with the sun on my face and the fresh air rushing by and an unobstructed view of my surrounds. Just personal preference. It's not always about the car.
I haven’t been following the 308 market so I don’t know where an A car falls or C/D lands, but that car looks a little rough.
