Should've had Billy Gibbons.
Alonso has balls of steel. Genuinely amazing to not only keep driving after a shunt like that, but to do proper racing and score a good haul of points! He deserves a much better car. I'm genuinely annoyed with myself for not supporting him until his 2nd mclaren stint.
Horner was about to cry during the podium ceremony. A bittersweet day for him, that's for sure - after all, he was just 33 when Didi appointed him as the head of the team. Are we sure that was a car? Looked like Alpine was testing a fighter jet-tank hybrid
Yup...this race really highlighted the tyre management issues Ferrari has. The car is CLEARLY very fast but eats tyres since TD39.
@P.Singhof just tipped me off, anyone with F1TV, watch the onboard from Lewis' car at the start...HE hits Sainz first, causing him to spin, then Russell hits him for good measure...!
I've read that Mission Broadcasting has gone dark on DirecTV and Uverse. Is your ABC station one of those? I had to watch a race via streaming, a couple races back, when ABC pulled all their stations off Dish net.
It's Lewis's onboard but it doesn't look like Lewis hit Sainz. I think Sainz turned the wheel to full lock and gave it just a bit much throttle thereby making him spin on a fully fueled car on cold tires.
Well, didn't Toto say that Merc was going to be "aggressive" this race? Didn't realize that meant sending Russell out to torpedo the team Merc is trying to catch in the constructor's points. Good effort by Charles, but the RB has just gotten a lot quicker over the season. (Making a mockery of the cost cap and freeze rules.) Rules only work if you apply them equally. I half expected FIA to penalize Carlos for being t-boned. 5 sec was just a tap on the wrist for that collision. And I notice that Perez didn't get a penalty for forcing Charles off the track.
At least Charles has won against Perez. Now is +2 pts ahead. 'Checo' (Sergio) - that audacious little pest still insisted that Charles exceeded track limits for the second time and should have given back position to him. LOL Also it was funny to see RedBull boiling - Max suddenly whining about 'driveability' of the car, funked_up pit stop x2 etc. No words to describe loss of Sainz at the 1st turn. But he had really slow start and the silver arrows sealed his fate at 1st corner. You cannot launch the car from the pole like that - or you end like ... Sainz
I watched it several times...maybe the optics are foollng me and his car placement is incredibly fortunate that he's mere MM away, but the way Carlos' car snapped was definitely a hit, whether it was from Lewis hit or Russell I don't know at this point, but you can see in movement it was from a hit that spun him....
It does look like he hits him, you can see him adjust his wheel from the impact. Sainz didn't mention being tapped from behind post race. Russell on board Lewis is out of frame. https://streamable.com/78pbqg SKY Germany apparently mentioned it during the telecast.
