Sky did an analysis. They didn't run LH's onboard. But they did show Max lifting a bit, which caused Sainz to lift and turn slightly. GR would have hit him anyway. Mercs suck.
I'd like to see throttle record of Max out of turn 1. Watching it live seemed like Carlos really let off and turned left maybe as an evasive manuever. Everybody is piling on Russel (who had locked up and undoubtably put himself where he shouldn't have been), and to a lesser extent Carlos, while I suspect Max is laughing about the whole thing after he was the one that lit the fuse... Wish they had aired the full convo btw Lewis and Max after the race in the cool down room. Watching the overtake, Lewis remarked "You came from SO far back..." and then audio cut before Max's reply. Epic drive by Vettel. Real shame about that pit stop. Same wheel nut gun issue as RB? Alonso and that Alpine holy **** they both deserve some kind of award for shaking off a 500' wheelie AND smashing into the armco. Insane!
Exactly !! At the start, Sainz gave a large berth to Verstappen at turn 1, then steered left to follow him, and spun, all by himself I can't even understand why Russell got a 5 sec penalty for this. And on that "damning" video I cannot see a positive sign that Hamilton in any way touched the Mercedes. But all this is stired up by the usual Mercedes haters, as if it had been a concerted effort to eliminate the Ferrari.
Hard to tell. If you run through it frame by frame you can see GR hits Sainz at about the same time as LH corrects, so he may have been reacting to that. Damn shame.
Watched 1/2 a lap and shut it off. Results exactly as expected and I got some work done around the house. F1 is becoming a joke.
Croft would agree with you, so you know it's 100% wrong. GR should be getting a whole lot more than 5 sec.
This ^^^ Watch Russell's on board as well. No matter what the Mercedes defenders might think, Sainz wasn't spinning until Russell speared him.
hardly. The move in 1 is an obvious over/under....just like LEC successfully did later in the race. Same move. Sorry you've been to the school of HAM where the move in turn 1 is either be out in front or whine. sjd
I tried frame by frame and yeah it's very close. At this point that could be GR front wing clipping the left side. The next frame you only see tyre. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Go to 11sec in the LH onboard and step through frame by frame. You'll see the shadow from GR's front wing appear next to Sainz. At that point everyone's OK. Also - At 26sec it's clear that Sainz only starts spinning after GR hits him. Screenshot at 23sec, T-bone is unavoidable. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It was a good race, not the greatest but at least Ferrari finished on podium. Also looked like the crowd turnout was larger than previous years.
Specifically because it wasn't his first time this season, or 2nd, or 3rd. His wheel to wheel racing has been absolutely attrocious.
Yeah it looks like Lewis touches him 1st. Image Unavailable, Please Login Maybe an onboard from the drivers from behind or a different camera angle. Sainz should have a rear facing camera.
The possible LH contact is just too close to call (for these old eyes), but the GR contact is undeniable (well, to most of us anyway )
, Normally I don't weigh in on stuff like this. I'm not a Mec hater, hell I own one, but this IS a FERRARI forum. I appreciate a good drive by anyone but you seem to really have it in for any Ferrari driver. Maybe the Mercedes F1 forum would be more fun? Shhees.
