    Hi Guys,

Any assistance available for the best practice in jacking up the rear of a F355?

I'm looking to replace my fuel sender unit, which I understand is quite large. This means you need to jack the rear of the car at least 40cm (16 inches) into the air.

The jacks I have will do this fine, but that's a fairly high lift and I'm concerned with the front of the car since it has such a long overhang.

Another option is to just jack one side (at the rear jacking point), but it'll need to go really high up in order to get 40cm clearance at the centre where the sender goes...

Has anybody done this/can offer advice? It's such an easy job it's certainly I can tackle myself, even though sadly I do not have access to a hoist/pit.

    Cheers fellas.

You will also need to drop the underpan so likely best to figure a way to jack both sides or the whole thing. Quick jacks or 4 jack stands and a creeper would be my approach.

^ yup, that’s how I used to do it, except I rested the car on large blocks. People do it, but I never liked having a vehicle that high up on stands, never found it very confidence inspiring.

I sprung for a set of quick jacks last year, and I love them (still use a couple large blocks under the car for safety while under there). Not much more than $1000 IIRC and probably the number one tool I wish I bought way sooner.
