Why so angry man? I mean I know you hate this car, that's fine, I enjoy talking about cars, so if you think your criticism bothers me, actually, it's quite the opposite. I've said time and again that the road cars were never ever intended to be only hard core dilluted only vehicles. It's you that keep on saying that. Just do a little reading, Enzo Ferrari started selling road cars to make money for SF, that's the only thing he cared about. Now if you say this is wrong for the brand, that's an argument that's been recycled for over 50 years now. So, it just gets old to me that's all. I mean, the Dino was so trashed at one point, owners would literally take off the badge on em. Now they are the most valued regular edition mid engine vehicles.

I mean, if folks are crying this is some anathema to the namesake, I ask why did Enzo himself approved a prototype of a 4 door sedan (Pinin?) Yes, Enzo ultimately 86ed it due to quality issues, but he was open to it, if not; why allow the prototype?

As far as if making a "Ferrari Fiat 500", it actually did happen. Look up the 500 Ferrari Tributo.
It's one of the most sought after vehicles.

seems like you can’t make up your mind, first we are bigots for liking the car, now we shouldn’t like the car. Which is it? Having a hard time keeping track.

Name any regular edition Ferrari that doesn’t depreciate? What makes this the outlier? Have you seen what clown shoes go for these days? I would only hope you are right! You don’t need 15 years, has the Ferrari FF destroyed the brand? Did the Porsche Cayenne destroy the 911/718 series? The carerra GT? 918?
Did the LM02 rot Lamborghini? Is the Huracan, Aventador BS because of what you see below?

the basis of it is this:

ferrari will have to go electric only.

the batteries in EV cars don't deliver a discernable difference from one car to another, there's either more power or not, the character stays the same

young people aren't getting less interested in sports cars in general whilst older people will always be nostalgic towards petrol and not as enthusiastic about electric sportscars

horsepower wars have already got out of control before the birth of ev sportscars, there's nowhere meaningful left to go beyond 1000hp for road cars which is where ev will go very soon, 2000hp? 3000hp? people will eventually lose interest in power

ferrari has to make money, the time will come when sportscars are simply not as popular anymore. the ferrari brand is strong enough to last awhile and I think they'll be forced into making cheaper cars and essentially selling out.

 

You might be right; I can't predict what will happen.

I can speak from my neck of the woods that electric cars are a dime a dozen.

I've noticed the greatest rabid car enthusiasts today worship on the altar of a man called Elon Musk. Other car folks prefer the Mercedes Benz EQS series, while others like the Mustang Mach-e - others find their jonesing quenched by Polestar. Some other enthusiasts prefer Porsche Taycan, while others prefer the Cadillac Lyriq, Audi, or Rivian.

Maybe this is a fad? I doubt it.

As Ferris Bueller once said, the world moves fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you may miss it.

Hard to say what the future holds but sportscars are slowly dying now and I’m not sure Ferrari customers are paying for actual product performance but more for association. (LDM 101)

In the new EV era, I have no doubt some manufacturers will struggle to differentiate their products and they will turn to racing. If Ferrari is competing and winning Le Mans or F1 against those companies with full EVs with Ferrari designed motors and batteries. How has the story changed?

I’m hopeful the brand continues in this new era. Now it might require a re-birth and it might be very painful cleansing from LDM’s Ferrari but it’s new customers could be more like Enzo’s! At the end of the day Enzo had a terrible disease - he was a racer born with a stopwatch in his hand (not a V12)!

Many years ago I asked Dan Gurney about Enzo, his answer was short - “he wanted to win” (as he pointed to the track).

Electric motorsport ??? none, but then no chance of it working.
Look at Formula E, even free people don't go there !
Ferrari won't survive electric and will become a service company, and that's fine !!!
It's funny, right now we're talking everywhere about out of stock and sales records...just the calm before the storm.

I mean, what's rational is relative these days. Besides artificiality as being the main rebuttal *that I completely sympathize with, I have yet to find one physical law violated by electric.

NVH can be replicated any way by use of any adaptive dampeners.
Smell is already replicated by ionizers today
Appearance is not affected
Sound can be replicated, and infinitely.

I mean unless ICE 'tastes' a certain way, I for one never licked a car.

I've heard a lot of 'feelings and ideological based' arguments that see to not be able to avoid P&R. Which I'm glad is not allowed in this particular thread, good thing too - I like to debate things that are objective about a car.

 

You could be right, I don't know why this would bother you then? It's like right now you have the opportunity to buy Superman #1 or Babe Ruth Rookie card. Isn't this a good thing?

I mean if what you describe is 'peak car' - then back the trailer up, you'll have a handsome payday ahead of you.

The whole business model around super sports cars is based on emotion and is highly subjective. Because purely fact-oriented, there is not much to be said for a super sports car: too little space, too loud, too expensive and equipped with performance capabilities that (except in Germany) are a complete joke throughout the speed-regulated world. From this point of view, it is a mockery in a forum where it is about super sports cars not to want to allow emotions.

In this world in which we find ourselves here, everything revolves, viewed abstractly, around emotions, only around subjectivity and emotions. Otherwise, there would be no more supercars.
