I somehow missed a good chunk of this thread. Am I correct in understanding Trevor now has an ECU upgrade tune for the 575, particularly those w full headers and high flows? This would be great for the Fabio header group
with regards to which system is better a good friend of mine who is with Cosworth racing owns a 575 and did extensive research on both systems he is the Director of Engineering and Formula 1 / OEM Special Projects and I will leave it at that. with regards to the system as a whole I have seen increased gas mileage and performance with the super sprint system and the quality of work was beyond reproach everything fit perfectly how do I know you asked? I installed the system attached are photos I have put over 2000 miles on the system so far with no CEL and I am about to put another 2000 miles on the car in the next week it's your money spend it wisely
Fabio’s is a 6:1 while the Supersprint is not. I believe (someone feel free to correct) Fabio was tuned for optimal sound and flow, while supersprint for flow, heat management, and retained scavenging. Supersprint makes a very good engineered product. I would love to see a formal head to head on the dyno
I can work with either system. Both work best with a proper calibration tailored to match. The stock mapping totally wastes these systems... Both are well made and a huge step up from the original system. Personal preference will dictate which you opt for but in either case ensure you match the headers with good sports cats for optimal gains and good emissions. I was highly surprised myself of the shocking gains possible once these systems are free from their software restricted performance shackles!
Terry, you should have checked 6 before you called "speed and angels" on this one... weren't you on K's backchannel the last year of this project?? Granted, I give him **** on a lot of things but "engines" is one thing I bow to the master. How ya feeling man? Still fighting the good fight, I hope.
Please tell us more. Do you need the ECU's or can my tuner in Australia work with you? Do you know what the esitmated gains would be without the supersprint system ( I like it quiet...ish) How much ?
R- Hardly, I have been talking with the same engineer and Trevor during the whole process of the 575M upgrades. I have had my Fabio system for two years with only an occasional CEL light, which Trevor will fix. The 3-2-1 Supersprint system is essentially what Ferrari did originally, but with equal length runners, no precats, and much better flow. In 2010, Ferrari went to a 6-1 system on the GTO with no precats and high flow cats and has stuck with that on all the newer V12s. 6-1 offers better scavenging and, to me, a purer sound than 3-2-1 systems. Nobody has done an apples-to-apples comparison of the two systems to see which provides more power after Trev breathes on the Motronic ECUs, but I am willing to bet the 6-1 will have more peak power and equal or better torque, but at a higher rpm.
You guys are killing me and my phone with these comments….so much drool on the phone I better find a bag of rice! I’m never selling my 550 but the next dream would be a late 575 with Fabio and Trev…. #AmazingDream
Hi Trev! can you please explain a bit more in detail what is the bottle neck with the stock mapping, and what you change? And what is the results? Do you have any tune for euro 550 with either exhausts? What do I need to do if I only want to take the catalyzers off and exchange them with Tubi de-cat pipes for a less expencive upgrade? I might spend more money on exhaust on my 550 next year. I still have the original manifolds and Hyperflow cats + OEM center and FUCHS valved mufflers. It is a bit too quiet. I also tested to replace the OEM center muffler with two separate pipes, but the sound was terrible! So put the OEM back and it sounds like original, just louder. It has a decent hint of scream in the tunnells at certain rpms., but what I really want is to de-program the "soft throttle response" which I have read the car has from the factory. I want INSTANT throttle response. I know how to drive a damn engine! Thanks!
Interested as well. The 550 engine is probably a little more difficult to tune close to the edge as its Motronic version uses no knock sensor...
I am stealing your photo Clyde, because I noticed that your speedo goes higher than my 550 speedo which goes up to 340 kph. Your US 575M speedo goes to 220 mph. which is in fact 353 kph. Now I am envious.... Why can't I have 360 kph.? Would make the kids excited. At least I always had to check to how high the speedometer went to on all cars! Most normal cars had 200 or 220 in the eighties. Some even had 240. Some Maseratis and Audis had 280 which was unheared of. Especially here in Norway where 90 kph. was the absolute maximum speed limit on selected highways at that time. Now the max limit is at 110, but still way too slow... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another question Trev. Which grade of fiel is neccesary for this tune? In Europe, the availible fuels are quite different from country to country and also amoth the different fuel companies. As you know the ( MON + RON ) / 2 is different than in Europe where we use just RON. I have experienced that the only fuel which is always availible is standard 95 octane (might be like your US 91 or 93) ?? Why I am asking is because I have a friend with a euro 575M here. What is the cost for such a tune?
just turned over 64k on the 575 with the new supersprint sytem on the car I did 2,200 plus mile up to New Jersey with startup temps around 30 Degrees no longer do I need to down shift to pass I can stay in 6th gear at or above 3k RPM and accelerate swiftly to well into triple digits gas mileage improved as well under hood temps are way down from stock system the way to go in my opinion with the 575.
My personal opinion on Supersprint Vs Fabio system is it's really like F1 Vs Gated. There really is no correct answer as it comes down to what you want out of your car. Both system offerings yield different characteristics and both are Italian! [emoji38] I know both suppliers having talked directly to both of the individuals involved in their creation. Both will produce the smiles way beyond the factory stuff and that is probably more important. I'm supporting and tailoring for both systems then you have choice. Do you go with Coke or Pepsi ? [emoji2] Even if one yields slightly better performance Vs another believe me when I say these cars tuned up in this way are plenty fast enough! I'm currently undergoing testing too with the Fabio system and it too should have no CELs or driveability issues. As for fuel octane and combustion quality, I've retained the factory default setup for detonation sensing. I have not and will not ever turn off detonation sensing in the work I do. This means on this generation of Motronic it can safely pull timing and adapt without any danger. It won't run as well granted but it will work. Useful if you just happen to be en route to somewhere and end up being in the middle of nowhere. If you have no option for higher octane fuel you will be still just fine but performance will be reduced. Exactly like the stock car.
Supersprint has a big sale going on: 25% off on their website. No affiliation, just thinking of buying a header set for my BMW…. https://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/home-stati-uniti.aspx
