Hi everyone, What is the correct colour for the airboxes on the 512 TR? I just bought a 1992 TR & will be getting these redone BUT I have seen both black & silver air boxes. Which is correct?
mine has black airboxes and the earlier Pininfarina-made body and script badge #97504 (Swiss model). based on https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148303674/ and the following post, #97598 is also an earlier Pininfarina-made body but #97691 has the newer body. so seems like the air boxes switched to black a bit before the bodies changed production. @Auraraptor and @MITengineer I assume you both have black air boxes?
My car is a late '93 production ABS car ('94 model year by USA standards). Black airboxes. Another odd-tell tale of production is the stamp on the DigiTek Exhaust Thermocouple ECU's. Later cars have a very different sticker than early ones.
Thanks everyone. Ok so sounds like they should be grey/silver on my car, so I think I'll just get them redone in that colour. To keep it correct. Thanks
Actually, what do you all think, is it ok to have the Air Boxes done in black instead? I think it looks much better...What is everyone's thoughts? Thanks
Since they won't be the OEM coating/ material to keep it as factory ....whatever makes you happy ..black or red power coat does look nice Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Yes, #97598 has black boxes. For some reason its not letting me upload a photo from my phone (file too big), but they are black.
We refinish the air boxes, intakes, oil tanks and valve covers in factory correct finish and materials all the time. why cant he get it done in the correct black or silver finish. Red, Black and Silver are easy the real ***** is the platinum used on the 456 models.
Looking at my boxes ..it appears that they are like a white metal material casted ..doesn't look like a coating or finish .. i may be wrong but that is how it looks to me ..a y paint/coating will be just that Please let me know if i am wrong ..i am always want to have the correct info Thank you Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
