I believe Checo was third on the grid and Max was putting in a faster lap time. I think this was during a time when points were very much in play for Checo.

No, there was no advantage for the team in swapping Max and Perez.

It was for the same reason Perez was asking to be moved ahead of Max already yesterday in the sprint race and again today and why LEC was asking to swap places with Sainz: for the fight for 2nd in the drivers championship.
