Multi 21 with Vettel and Webber.

Multi 1-11 with Max and Perez.

Let's see what happens at Abu Dhabi.

The worst part is that literally a year ago Max won the title in part thanks to the Epic defending checo did on Lewis at Abu Dahbi. How crappy to not help him in return…

So IF Max returns the favor at Abu Dhabi??.....then what? Does Max get in your "good graces?" Won't it be "even-stevens" between Max and Checo?

NO, not in my view. I would never trust again someone who would have screwed me ONCE !

Trust is a precious commodity, it's like china: once you break it, you cannot put it back together again !

So if Checo "screwed" Max at Monaco and Max "screwed" Checo at Interlagos....then it's sorta "even-stevens"......but Max helping Checo at Abu Dhabi is still not worth trusting Max?

Well, I don't know if the Monaco and Interlagos incidents are related, so I cannot pronounce myself categorically.

If Checo played dirty at Monaco, then he couldn't expect any help from Max, for sure. But I didn't know about that incident.

What's certain, generally speaking, is that bad blood between team mates can be very counter-productive, mostly at the top.

I remember a World Superbike title lost in the last race because the leader Sykes needed help from his team mate to win.

The rider in question, a Frenchman named Baz, refused to obey team orders and Sykes lost the championship.

Championship in the bag, record number of season wins, and he cannot give up 6th place to help his teammate. 'Absolutely unbelievable' to quote Max

Race drivers are employees and if Checo misses out on 2nd in the championship by the amount he got screwed out of today the team should automatically take the equivalent prize money difference out of Max's pay.

As i see it, this is a "separable" situation (forgive me, but i've lived my life deeply immersed in engineering and mathematics, so i apply separation of variables at every opportunity :D )

If Perez really did crash intentionally at Monaco (as the info and data are now strongly suggesting), that's a ridiculously childish and DANGEROUS move ... and Perez is not deserving of any "gifts" this season.

However, Max could easily be the adult in the room, and give the gift anyway ... at no cost to himself.

Perez defense with Hamilton last year in Abu Dabi was absolutely a team player behavior.
Frankly even if the Monaco episode is true I don’t understand Max reaction.

Let's face it, Checo should be ashamed for even wanting the second place, that place belongs to Charles, regardless of who takes it, Checo shouldn't even be close.
Still it was a dumb move by Max, he has needed Checo_s help in the past and may need it in the future, he came out of this like a prick

My feeling as well. Cheap gift to make him look the bigger man. Podium wasn't going to be on the table so nothing lost for Max.

I'm curious to know the real reason as it was clearly discussed beforehand...Max saying "I already told you before, do not ask me to do that".

I must have missed the Monaco story. Why did checo intentionally crash? What was gained by doing that?

Checo ended up "screwing" Max's lap by crashing out....so Checo ended up squeaking ahead of Max. Look at the times above your post.

Is this a good time to start the "Max deserves less respect" thread?

We have a tribute story. Very emotional excerpt about Max the champ, the greatest man on the grid, 2021 & 2022.

After watching, let's pray for his darned soul. ;)

That is my question. Would it have been possible for Checo to know that Max was on a fast lap, just before Checo crashed? Or was Checo simply purchasing insurance by crashing, to cause qualifying to finish before Max got in his lap?

Checo told Horner and Marko that it was deliberate. This coincides with the telemetry provided by @Bas. on post #2965.

But, he has never earned that respect yet.

I doubt he will ever earn some true respect :D
