    Apart from the 430 on a 360 base, just a "Modificata", he did nothing at Ferrari... There was much better than him, hardly anyone remembers his time there...

    Well he did also design the FXX and the Manettino switch. But yes he wasn't the most notable designer to ever work for Ferrari.

    The former designer Frank Stephenson with a past also in Maranello analyzes the Purosangue, praising its merits but also finding some defects.
    This is the summary of what he said.

    Sensual, sexy, dynamic and sinuous. Praise, appreciation but also some criticism of Ferrari's Purosangue. The former creative, with a past among other things in Ferrari, talks at length about the pros and cons of a car that even before its presentation had already divided critics and enthusiasts.

    According to Stephenson the Purosangue is a beautiful car, faithful to the Ferrari style in many respects. The Purosangue has hit the spot according to the former designer who, however, has not spent only honey words for this car. In fact, Stephenson criticizes the front of the Purosangue, focusing on the light clusters which according to him, with a past in BMW, Mini, Maserati, Fiat and even Alfa Romeo, could be better.

    One of the points on which Stephenson's focused the most are the sides of the Purosangue, which the designer doesn't particularly appreciate. Going into detail, the American expert does not like the choice of the clamshell hood, as well as the use of carbon fiber for the mudguards. The former Ferrari designer doesn't even appreciate the black accents at the base of the A-pillar, which he doesn't consider adequate.

    Moving on to the rear, the only drawback according to Stephenson are the headlights that he would have liked to have a circular shape to pay homage to Ferrari history. However, it is the same creative who partly justifies the choice of the Style Center led by Flavio Manzoni, stating that inevitably the stylistic language and technical choices must evolve over time. On the interior, however, Stephenson did not have much to say: he appreciates the fact that the cockpit is focused on the driver, while also ensuring a certain involvement for the passengers.

    That’s not entirely true, he didn’t like the placement of the hood shut lines not the clamshell hood itself.

    Yes, you are correct, this thread has questions of purity, and I dear say we are in total agreement; that ship has long sailed.

    I also agree with you this will be the wildest, fastest SUV that looks great from all angles; I ask, why are you defending it when you previously said folks should not? I don't know... seems inconsistent to me.

    It's like if I wrote "People should stop posting here"

    I did not say the PS looks great from ALL angles. I said some. language is important. I was not defending nor ever said people shouldn’t defend it. My point was pragmatic. It exists, deal with it. The very fact the PS has not been given its own forum heading after all this time is also saying alot.

    I love both, just for the record; objectivity is impossible with style. That said, to say Stephenson did nothing at Ferrari is rather uncouth but par for the course, given your input on this thread. You also conveniently leave out that Frank worked with Ken on the 612 & QP.
    Also, the p1 and 720 aren't exactly chopped liver...you know?

    Indeed, he gave it a 9.6 out of 10 - that's the highest score I've seen of his evals. He loves it.

    I wholeheartedly agree with you about folks should 'get over it.' That's precisely what we're (you and I) doing, yeah? This is a chat board, yes? As for style, we are also in agreement; while not a 10, I agree with Stephenson; it's a 9.6. You're post mirrors mine for the past few months. We have counter opinions, which is fine!

    Why so mad man? I mean, you're allowed to be a hater. In fact we love it because it keeps things interesting. If you're going to be a hater, at least get things right.

    The one thing I notice is your make a lot of statements as fact, yet get angry when you're proven wrong. It's not a 'growth mindset.'

    When people prove me wrong on something, I don't get angry. I thank them. I've found that approach makes me not only smarter, but intellectually honest.

    This modus operandi being adopted less and less these days. Alas. The movie Idiocracy becomes very prophetic.

    As I said, this thread has taught me far more than even the topic at hand.

    I didn't get any replies to my earlier question, so I'll ask again. Those who don't approve Purosangue as a Ferrari, is it because of four doors or SUV like appearance?

    It seems to me like Ferrari went to SUV like appearance mostly because it was the only way to provide easy access to rear seats without increasing wheelbase too much. Also, weight of the car could have increased if roof was lowered and wheelbase lengthened.

    As I’ve said before I personally don’t care for it because it’s an SUV. Four doors isn’t an issue to me at all.

    FWIW I don’t find it hideous or poorly designed at all.

    The all-wheel-drive Lusso shooting brake was a development of the FF four-seater which originally made its debut in 2011. Despite the platform having aged the essential idea and epic performance will never get tired. The Purosangue proportions hark back to a mix of SUV and Shooting Break and, at just 160 cm tall, they are more reminiscent of the FF or Lusso than any of its taller SUV rivals.
    The Purosangue although it is not a development of the Lusso it is the model that precedes it in this segment, created in typical Ferrari fashion with its own rules. IMO the Purosangue is the continuity of the FF and the Lusso lineage and to express this idea I composed the picture below.
