    Hello everyone!

I tried the search function of FChat for this thread but couldn’t find one specifically on the 308/328.

A few days ago three hooded men broke into the parking where my 308 is parked, and tried to steal it. Fortunately they couldn’t start it but in the process they destroyed the door lock, the Neman…
With my father we bought a steering wheel/pedal lock, but in your experience what is the best antitheft system for our beloved 3x8s?
    Thanks!

The best bet is to just unplug the battery at the disconnect strap. Only someone very familiar would know its there and to reconnect it. Sorry they damaged your car. Or just pull the fuel pump fuse. Both at no cost.

Well I’m in France so it’s not as theft proof as in the US!

That was also my idea but I think the car was targeted, so if they see that the battery is unplugged and really want the car a quick internet search will tell them how to access and plug it?

fuel pump fuse is a great idea thanks ! Less common than the battery unplugging :)

There is a little lock cover you can buy for the shifter gate. Pretty simple and easy.

Yeah, there is no stopping a committed thief.

Hiding a switch that disables the fuel pump circuit would certainly slow them down. No thief goes through spark/fuel/air troubleshooting.

I have the shift gate lock and really like it. It locks the car in reverse gear. It's pretty sturdy so it would require a pretty determined thief to get it off (and they will cause nasty damage).

Hide an apple Airtag in your car to track your car's location as long as remains in range. You can even know when your kids take it for a joy ride without asking your permission

On a side note I never EVER lock mine.

Never in 25 years. It saved me big $ once for sure.

I guess I am not familiar with it. Where should I look in my 1981 308 GTSi? My car is always on battery trickle charger.

Under the drivers fender. Pop the bonnet and look down in there, you will see a big flat ground strap with a plastic end that just pulls apart. Pull it towards the bumper.

And I’m sure there are plenty of spaces where I could hide it without thefts noticing !

    Alarm, immobilizer, camera system, Airtags.

As with everything, do a 180deg and turn the attacker into the prey. It's not just about the car, it's about who's on top.

This thread will serve as an easy reference to someone who needs to know how to break into a 308 :(

That’s why I hesitated a few days before posting… but for example saying just « hide an airpod in the car » without exactly telling where will not disclose too much information!

Plus I’m in France, theft are most likely from Eastern Europe according to the police, so stealing a car in hurry they may not have enough time to get to this thread, I hope !

Gotta love the lazy french police. They should do their job instead of blaming foreigners. 100% local job.
