    Hi,

Has anyone changed their tach on the 458? I have a white Tach face currently, am looking to swap for yellow.

Looking to find a yellow one.

Pretty sure the only way to do it is to get an entire new cluster..which is big $$ then has to be programmed..even used its $4k Plus...

I have heard that the white tach has better daylight visibility than the yellow. I can say my yellow has poor daylight visibility.

I have a yellow tach in my 458. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t care if it were white and it wouldn’t be an issue for me.

Regardless of color, 458 tach illumination is poor at best.

there's a whole long thread somewhere about how the tach is illuminated differently (programing) depending on the color tach. I find my yellow tach easy to read, but some users have the yellow tach backlit even on a sunny day which is not correct.

Never had a problem with my yellow tach, but honestly I never look at it. I just look at the LEDs on the steering wheel. I wish every single car had an LED steering wheel.

I remember seeing a car gauge cluster that wasn't backlit but instead had a single overhead bulb lighting the cluster. That would be a cheap (and terrible) way of doing it. :p

Ha! So true on not looking directly at tach. That is why those LEDs on the wheel (that had Schumacher's input), are there. They allow you to concentrate on driving and not having to lose focus on the RPMs.

Agreed on using the LEDs on the 458 nstead of the tach.

    My 458 (yellow tach) is great -- 5 red LEDs: 5500 / 6250 / 7000 / 7750 / 8920

    My wife's Portofino M (red tach) is . . . confusing -- 9 LEDs (7 red, 2 blue): starting at 5500 rpm, then every 225 rpm: 5500 / 5725 / 5950 / 6175 / 6400 / 6625 / 6850 / 7075 / 7300

Nah, she drives the Portofino M in comfort / auto and it is still crazy fast. I drive it (to the gas station) in race / manual and pretty much shift after the second LED. Gratuitous garage pic after moving some of the cars around.

And just for a fun comparison, we have a John Cooper Works Mini (for friends and family visits) that puts the RPM in the heads up display and "mood ring" infotainment (white to red), along with HP and Torque.

My yellow tach looks black during the day. I wish it had more light.

Nice garage and what year is the Masi Cabrio?! I had 2 new ones, a '13 GTS Coupe and then a '17 MC Cabrio. From the front it's definitely pre '13 and is it a GT or GTS? They are timeless beauties and sounds amazing (alla F136 engine in 458)!

(with apologies for straying from the original thread)

2011 model year Gran Turismo Convertible, we picked it up new Oct 2010. Nero / nero with red stitching and red calipers. I thought my wife would want to sell it when her Portofino M came in, but it's too nice of a car that's not worth enough money to sell. Beatuiful Pininfarina design with a 4.7L Ferrari F136 engine and rear seats that actual humans can fit in. For the three times a year we need a four seat convertible I was willing to get "creative" with parking it in the garage:

Except they are all the same colour, red. To be really beneficial is to have a colour change like they have done on the latest models. That way you can see it on the corner of your eye without trying to see how many red leds are lit.

I had a '19 GTB 488 with the yellow tach. When you are learning the car you glance down a lot when accelerating and I found the very popular yellow face hard to read at a glance. And you do not have time for anything longer than a glance. So when I ordered a '20 Spyder I got the white face and it is much easier to read. On the other hand I don't look at it much now as I have learned to read the sound and the lights.

White is far better than yellow (especially when the sun is shining over your shoulder and onto the dash).
