https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-ferrari-456m-gt/ A low mile M, 6 speed, killer spec and all of the important services have been done, they got ahead of the right stuff too. This should bring a lot of cash. It may even set the bar for the model.
I agree with everything except a new high price. I think our cars, including the M GT, are just part of the euphoria that has waned a bit this fall and unfortunately prices are settling back down. As we have seen on auctions the past few months. (Excluding the Schumacher car) Good for buyers, i guess. And of course i hope Im wrongs and it will prove to be a strong seller. That being said, it hopefully will hammer well north of 100k this time I absolutely love those wheels! Does anyone else have a set on here and have any feedback on them? 18 or 19"
Agreed. Not at all. Especially not for such a well managed & great example. The owner even went through the trouble of adding those black “Daytona” inserts which actually do not look too bad AND they actually serviced it properly. I never wonder why cars go up for sale but I did wonder why they wish to sell this one now. That said, this particular car may lie in that upper-zone where the potential buyer may be well aware that this may be their only chance to reel-in such a great M spec in “proper nick” - as they say across the pond. With low miles to boot.
I saw the email from Sheehan on this one as well. Was thinking the same thing regarding timing and servicing. Will be watching to see what it does…. would be fascinating to know what financing is on this car that has to be settled with sale….
I think it doesn’t break $130k or just barely. People will look back at the Rosso Barchetta and have a hard time bidding more than that in a down market. The seller would maybe bring a little more but the lien will hold it back so call it a wash.
I am bullish on it, aftermarket seat inserts aside, it would be harder to find a more sorted, low mile, later model M shifter-car with a classic spec like that. It will be a long wait anyway to see another one pop up anyway. +$165k is my guess looking at the 2 other shifter-car market comps for M’s on sale right now. Could be higher. The premium over the auto box is incredible right now. Fun to see either way. I remember before I was in the market (2010 or so) just watching and hoping these prices would stay down until I had my dry powder.
@Mirek gentlemens bet? You get over $150k before fees I’ll take the under? Give me the stakes! (I didn’t get my NFL bets in time today)
On the M’s yes, you could spec them but those inserts were done outside the factory. There are two such examples running around like that. I *kinda* wish I had contrasting inserts to go with my piping but alas, I do not. View attachment 3429946
Can I get in on this action? Highly unlikely that this hammers anywhere near $150k. I think it goes for six figures, but only just.
Ok, very close. $138 plus 5% ($143k). Good deal. Softer market than I assumed (as usual) but north of low estimates and will continue to climb !
I said just over 130, but meant more like 132-134. It’s the first result that came in above what I was expecting in probably 6 months.
The aftermarket Daytona seat inserts did not help. Polarizing. If that was the OE spec it would have looked better and gone for more - I think.
This one from last summer now has an interesting follow up article... https://autos.yahoo.com/stolen-ferrari-456-gt-chicken-213000975.html
With how much he paid for that car I’d probably sue too. Too bad Manhattan Supreme Court is so backed up it’s going to take years to sort out, and you don’t make it to judgement for under $50-70k in legal fees. ****ty situation.
and another 6speed M GT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-ferrari-456m-gt/ I wish we could combine this thread and the 456 for sale thread somehow as well
I see that is has the upgraded MSW (?) steering ECU installed (as do I and it is a “night & day” difference at speed) but there is also an Dyno graph showing a 23HP increase presumably due to the “upgraded ECU” mentioned next to the dyno graph. What is that all about ? I want 22 more horses !
