Nope. Aussie delivered, so all taxes paid, unless it was brought in as a race car, in which case you could only bring it back as a race car (still taxes paid, though)

Although I'm not 100% familiar with the most recent changes with respect to importing a car, based on the previous legislation, the good doctor is correct.

Given the current value of the pound and softening in prices over there, there are cost savings on certain models by doing a UK import.

I think it was only ever a race car, so you wouldn't be able to register it. The tax is only 5% on a race car, but it should have already been paid. A lot of money for something you can't drive on the road, all the same

I seriously looked at purchasing a Gen 1 Vanquish in Aust and doing a works factory manual conversion - I can export out and reimport without paying any tax except for the cost of the conversion (note that Gen 1 Vanquish has Tremac T-56 gearbox, so its a very straight forward conversion).

Not 100% sure on the tax side but it doesn't sound right to me.. I don't think they care if it was previously registered or not, you have to pay tax/duty etc each time it comes across the border if you're not the current owner doing a personal import.

But I could be dead wrong..

I'm paying GST when importing buying things (second hand) made and sold in Australia, and I've even been slugged GST at the border on things that are GST free... The guys at the border are barely smarter than your average wharfie - and good luck arguing with them.

Those wheels really have to be white. As a proper enthusiast, anything else is just wrong.

On the plus side, at least it has the correct shields.
