Great article and video: https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/magazine/articles/ferraris-beating-heart-the-v12
This article almost feels like a farewell…are they trying to announce the imminent end if the F140 and V12 family?
Gavin Green is English but I am sure he wants another future visit to Maranello after all the times he has already been there...
Ground control to day355????? We have a problem. It seems Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna has driven the new V12 Purosangue and has pronounced 'it really is a sports car'. day355 needs to take him for a ride in a 355 and show him what a real 'sports car' is all about. I am sure the guys on the gate at Fiorano would let them drive in to do a few laps of the track. Helmets on of course. Then old sparky, I mean Mr Vigna might have a better understanding of what a 'sports car' truly represents in the hands of a capable driver...
He needs to SELL it. What else is he going to say? And yes of course he is a tech nerd not a car guy.
I'm sure Mr. Vigna will also tell you, that the touch capacitive start-stop button is one of the greatest, most groundbreaking things to happen in Ferrari's history - and I hope most of us share the same opinion about that gimmick....
day355 - any insight on the cockpit of the F167? Same cap touch steering wheel as the SF90/296/Purosangue or a new design that addresses some of the shortcomings of the current steering wheel design?
Thank you for your reply, your info continues to be much appreciated. Unfortunately the start button isn’t the biggest issue, though maybe the easiest to address. They really need to improve navigation through the menus and the overall performance of the UI.
I too would have preferred pretty modern tachometers, but you can forget...unfortunatly Image Unavailable, Please Login
Isn't that part of the reason why they hired Vigna? Because he's a tech-guy and all that - and didn't he bring more tech guys with him?. Would be quite ironic if they can't figure it out.
Vigna and gang are "stage crew", figuring out what happens behind the scenes, he and his cohort are not playwrights (i.e. hardware vs software)...so what you see and experience, well, that's why they paired up with Jony Ive https://www.forbes.com/sites/markewing/2021/09/27/jony-ive-and-marc-newson-of-lovefrom-announce-multi-year-collaboration-with-ferrari/ But, I doubt Vigna has any interest in the F167, so I expect more the same frustrating interface designs for that model...
None ! On the other hand, when he sees the length of the waiting list of 167, I think he will understand late that his strategy is not good...
812 / 812gts /812 comp/ 812 comp A last of real tachs and driver focused dashboards. Video games for everyone now with terrible haptic garbage.
Well, anything can look like ass if so inspired. Image Unavailable, Please Login The issue isn't whether it's digital or analog, it's whether it's beautiful and well thought through or not.
Respectfully disagree. After driving the sf90 and the 296gts, the digitization of the steering wheel with the Haptic Touch and the Atari dashboard ruin the experience. The cars are wonderfully capable with lots of digital tech to make them so, but the steering wheel and dash are a mess.

Interesting from Evo in their "Best new performance cars 2023" article: "Ferrari’s new Purosangue will be the big story of 2023, having already been revealed to much fan-fare. The not-an-SUV-SUV isn’t the only V12 due in 2023 from Ferrari, though, as we know it’s also working on a new front-engined replacement for the 812 that should debut some time in 2023. Despite running around in a chopped-up Roma body, we expect the new V12 model to feature its own styling and a two-seater layout." Seems positive, also glad it's not going to be a V12 Roma like some are suggesting although unsure exactly what Evo's sources are.
Source: ferrarichat Half-joke as those are vague and well known details, but be sure fchat is often source even for top magazines.
I mean, I've yet to see anything that asserts with any certainty from an official source or press that it'll be a 2 seater non-Roma but here's hoping. It may be well known but to me it's still speculation.
