I'm surprised that there isn't a thread about this car on the Dino forum? It is a righteous C & F GTS, provenance and documentation second to none. Hello?

I couldn’t quite follow the ownership history on the auction site but this resembles a GTS that I used to park next to in a office building in downtown Ft. Lauderdale in around 2009. I believe it belonged to a cruise line executive.

    Hmmm...

Well, that's not right, I don't think. The fenders are most certainly different that the standard.

The flares were a factory option, starting in 1972 (I think) the Daytona seats were as well. The tag "chairs and flares" was a label attached to the options later on, exact source for that to me is unknown. Maybe Matthias can chime in.

The Massini report shows there was no Daytona seats- another mistake?

I heard Mathias say this in a video recently, "no factory flairs and chairs".

What Mathias meant was that "Chairs & Flares" was not a package per se. The Daytona style seats and larger Campagnolo wheels with fender flare extensions to house them were individual options. It just so happens that both options were often specified on the same car. There were cars with "flares" and standard seats.

This seemed to fall short of recent market expectations.

Well, this is a high number yet for Europe.
A not so bad Daytona failed last weekend in Munich at RM Sotheby’s with 450k Euro.
But ok, a real grab 206 (#00356) was sold for a seems to be new world record price of more than 300k Euro.

A proper result IMO for a proper GTS.

Seems to be short of the asks for C&F GTSs just a week or to ago. Even so I think it was well sold.

    You are right. And wrong.

“Chairs and Flares” was not a factory option. It was two separate options. Not a package.

The wheel arch most definitely was flared with a flat flare similar to the racing Daytonas of the era.

The result of #00356 at RM was really crazy and in comparison to this the result here is rather poor

“Chairs and Flares” is a more modern term used to describe both options.

If you look at older marketing ads, people generally refer to as a “Sebring” option, which once again, lumps them together.

I have also seen the vinyl soft top referred to as a “Sebring” top. No idea where either term came from or if the soft top got lumped in too way back when.
