Also. The stupid fuel door button. Doesn't the car need to be on for the fuel door to open? I remember not being able to figure it out, got embarrassed and left for another gas station lol

On the 458 the fuel door button works with key off and out. Older 430 ignition had to be on to opefuel door and glovebox.

I forgot to mention the electric handbrake - one of the most stupid existing features, which is now unfortunately popular with all manufacturers...

    Also for the F8

I would take a higher rear diffuser and lowered springs. That wheel gap.

Geez, how could I have forgotten to include that one. Most likely absolutely useless in an emergency. Can't imagine fumbling around trying to locate that little lever as you're about to plow into something. Not even sure you can see it sitting upright in the seat. Moronic placement and ergonomics at best.

I didn't like a few things at first:

    Touchy throttle.
    Awkward exhaust sound transitions.
    No 2010 burbles in 2015
    Bluetooth weirdness.
Car had to be on, stopped and hold the button down the whole time to lower the top.

All those problems are now solved.

    Remaining issues:

The cheap Chinese vinyl straps in the luggage area break if you look at them funny. Will get that solved this winter.

The turn signal sound is too quiet. I like the steering wheel right where it blocks the dash indicators, so I have to duck down to look and make sure they are off, and it's the first car or motorcycle in my life I ever drove down the road with a turn signal on like an idiot.

I don't know how to solve the blinker issue, so I guess that's the one active complaint.

Ditto the above remarks re: ride height/wheel gap, a dislike I have on my 488. That said, I enjoy not worrying about scraping…

I thought the shocks on the 488 are threaded body so you can adjust the height without changing springs - am I mistaken? Or even at lowest setting it's still not low enough? For me I enjoy the usability, so not touching them.

After a year and about 12k Km with the car, including a couple decent roadtrips, I have the following:
    • base stereo sucks, no redeeming qualities at all
    • cruise control strictly for empty stretches where you set and forget. If you have traffic or changing speed limits that you have to adhere to (like in Switzerland), it's practically useless
    • exhaust flap opening strategy is actually quite nice in general, but I'd prefer at 7th gear to stay closed, or at least stay closed until higher RPM. If you're cruising at 150kph it starts opening up and at that speed it's also droning. It gets better at higher speeds, but still loud and when you're just doing distance you don't necessarily want the sound- you just need to cover ground fast.

Other than that, love the thing so damn much, I can't stop driving it

Because any “low” 488’s I’ve seen were done with aftermarket equipment, I have assumed that the stock setup was not adjustable. Now I’m curious… can anyone confirm?

Lowered my ‘17 488 on stock springs at F of ATL. Lowered 18mm in the front and 22mm in the rear. Added 10mm spacers in the front and 15mm spacers in the rear. Alignment as well.

This would result in the icons being updside down. The individual switches would need to be removed from the housing and reversed (if that's possible).

Of course that is understood. But if its possible sure, rotate the switches if not but the unit is rotatable I'd take it that way as who is looking at the icons on the floor anyway?:D

I think it’s cool having an exotic car that never scrapes. If a car still looks exotic without lowering it, then I just assume leave it alone and enjoy the benefits of not scraping. I don’t think people see my TDF 458 and immediately think “look at that wheel gap!”

You are spot-on correct. It's what one sees when they look at their own car that matters.

Yes you can adjust the stock coilovers a little lower. Look up through the wheel at the shock body and you’ll see the threads. You’ll need a shop that can compress the springs to loosen the jam nuts. The shop will need to realign after lowering. In the workshop manual there is a +- spec of 10mm! Some cars come high from the factory. Stock springs can realistically go around another 15-18mm lower 3/4” with out diminishing ride quality whatsoever.
Ride height adjustment is honestly there to corner balance the car and adjust the front to rear rake. On race cars corner balance is important and some tracks run higher settings or lower settings. Rake is adjusted slightly too. When you lower adjust front and rear down equally to keep the factory rake.

    488spider here.

    1. infotainment system is awful. Radio turns on when it feels like it. iPhone connectivity is a joke
    2. The location of the gas door button, I’ve accidentally opened the gas lid when getting out of the car.
    3. Always starts in auto.
    4. The left screen never stays in the setting I had it on when turned car off.
    5. The radio being integrated into driver screen makes it useless for a passenger to work the radio while I’m driving on long trips.
    6. cup holder location rules out a lot of options.

    I did it for:
Burbles. This was a big deal for me as I fell in love with that sound but bought a 2015.
Throttle is still quick but much smoother.
Much improved transitions to/from exhaust valves in all modes.
    Rev limit slightly higher.
Free dozen or so extra horses and maybe 1+ mpg. (least interesting part).

Same for F8 for me, these are biggest issues I can think of as well. The rear diffuser is so low it is almost unreal, impossible not scraping, if front lifter is raised, it actually makes rear lower due to angle and scrap even easier. For front I have skid plates installed, rear nothing I could do other than be extra careful.

The traction is quite amazing when tires are warm, when cold I even span rear tires in 4th gear. Require extreme discipline until tires at least 85 degree warm or higher

I don't know how the cup holder in the 488 compares to the 458, but the Yeti 16 oz (https://www.yeti.com/drinkware/tumblers/21071501049.html) fits perfectly in the 458. The 20oz doesn't clear the infotainment center.
