Antenna Push-Pull Line Broke

You can buy a new mast which comes with the "plastic line" from most car radio supply sites. Probably amazon too.

 

Hi Richard, sorry to bother you but did you ever own a green Sunbeam Tiger, I recently bought one that was imported to England from Arizona about 11 years ago, unfortunately all the history has been lost other than a tin of paint with the name Richard Crump Tiger on the lid.
There can't be too many Richard Crump and as you are the first I've found with classic cars I thought I would ask you first.

That Tiger belonged to a friend of mine's son in the Phoenix area. About 10 years ago, I rebuilt the front end and put an intake manifold gasket set in it. I wanted to rebuild or replace the steering rack at that time but he didn't want to spend anymore on it. He sold it to someone in GB. That more or less, exhausts my knowledge about the car. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Richard, thank you for your help, I bought it from the guy your friend sold it to in England, hes lost the history file and hard top, if your friends son has any history or photos it would be a great help, are there any photos of the damage front end before the repair.

I worked on the suspension, not the body. If I remember correctly, I had to replace a lower control arm on the right side (I think). The motor at that time was a real firecracker. I remember the manifold was not a great fit. I had to fool around and find thicker gaskets for it.

Thank you Richard, every little helps, the engine does sound as though it has great potential, I've noticed the thick manifold gasket and I have new head gaskets to fit due failure while in storage for 2 years.
I do hope your friend will contact me and help with the Tigers history.

Previous owner of the tiger here, I owned it just before it went to the UK. Paint and body were exactly as you see it now when I got it, no history or pictures other than it sat in a collection in Texas for many years prior to my ownership. Richard sorted the front end for me, could have used a steering rack rebuild but it wasn’t terrible and I left it alone. I had a complete motor rebuild done by Tim at British Auto Repair here in Phoenix and added a 6 blade fan and fan shroud to help keep her cool in the summer. It did go overseas with my receipts and the hard top, as I recall the hard top wasn’t a great fit. This is the extent of my knowledge, I didn’t own the car very long and went back to Alfa Romeos immediately after selling it.

Hi JB, thank you for the message, the owner I bought it from lost everything he had when he bought the car from you including the hard top, so I have no history at all other than information from Richard and yourself.
Although it's only covered about 250 miles since you sold it, 2 years sitting in a container have taken its toll and lead to head gasket failure, all the parts are now with me and will hopefully be back in action in the Spring of 2023.
Front suspension is stripped ready for upgrades and the new 4 pot calipers and bigger disc brakes have just arrived, 15 inch Halibrand wheels are in the process of being specially made to clear the new bigger brakes and the bodywork will tidy up enough to make it a presentable Tiger once again.
The main aim is to use and enjoy it as much as possible without worrying about keeping it as a show car.
