^ the c8 looks much much better in person than in photos. ferrari’s do look “sleeker” however.
I actually prefer the overall design of the Stingray over the Z06. To my eyes it's sleeker and more cohesive. While I like the rear of the Z06, the front fascia and sides around the wishbones are too overdone. I think the Z06 looks better without the Z07 package as I'm not a fan of the wing or ground effects.
Front end of Z06 worse than C8 Rear end of Z06 better than C8 Side view no difference But the biggest improvement is the stance from the wide body. From 3/4 it really has a much more mean and lower look. Its a bit too Lambo like for my taste but I don't find it unattractive.
Good read. https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2023-chevrolet-corvette-z06-vs-lamborghini-huracan-tecnica-mclaren-765lt-comparison-test-review/
Stradman and Shmee .... yikes! 950 miles on new Z06. Somethings leaking. He thinks tranny. can't/don't want to start car if tranny has no fluid. Can't put car in neutral without starting car. NOTHING happens. Car is 'stuck' in basement bat cave. keystone cops trying to move car. Follow-up diagnosis may be interesting. Till then, Don't watch unless you have time to waste. >>> @ 11:17 looks like engine oil. could it just be oil from dry sump tank connections? Early production problem? Don't forget, it IS a Chevy. .
Did they say if that was SAE or STD? GM has been rating Corvettes with proper SAE horsepower for a while, and 640 rwhp doesn’t correlate in any way to 670 crank hp. Speed Phenom’s 600-610 rwhp seems much more believable given the factory rating of the engine. I’m also curious to know what gear these guys are dynoing in since they should be in the DCT’s 1:1 gear, or whatever is closest to it, and I can’t find the DCT’s ratios listed anywhere. Regardless, the engine is absolutely phenomenal!
My first C8 SR I had for about 2 weeks before it got drowned in brackish water in FL. My friends and I tried fixing it (seat not working, PDR not working, amplifier shot). And then one morning it wouldn’t start…not even turn over, just a humming sound when you pushed the starter button. I thought may be a dead cell in battery (jumping didn’t work) so I bought a new battery and installed it, nope. It won’t go out of park and electronic parking brake is on, stuck in garage. I need to get it out of garage and facing the street in straight line if any hope of a flat bed towing it out. Two tow companies refused to tow it as it was brand new and no good way to tow it without risking damaging the front fascia, there are no good tow attachment points under the car. I got wheel dollies and jacked up car (btw..no obvious Jack points lying under car, had to guesstimate with YouTube running on phone while looking under car). With help pushed car out onto beginning part of driveway. I have pavers and dolly wheels didn’t want to roll easily…a huge PIA. While we were struggling one dolly wheel went off paver into the dirt..now not going to move, and also now blocking the rest of the driveway and garage. Hooked up myF150 which was now trapped behind the car to dollies and with jacking car up at same time managed to maneuver it back onto pavers (this took a couple hours, and destroyed one dolly). Then dragged the car backwards enough to let my wife get out of garage. No local Chevy dealer has tow hooks in stock! Since you really can’t move this car without tow hooks it is ridiculous that Chevy doesn’t include them with car like Ferrari and Porsche do. I order a tow hook off Amazon and wait two days. Finally get a tow company to agree to flatbed it. He was only willing to do it because he had a new truck that could also lower its suspension to get under front of car, and I told him in all likelihood the car will be totaled anyway (which it was). In all..a lot of swearing, sweating, and about 3 day ordeal.
Sales guy just texted me from dealership where I bought my Stingray. They buy all their corvettes for stock. He has 2 Z06s coming in. I said I’d be interested depending upon ADM. He said they have already turned down two offers at $150K over! I said, thanks, but no thanks!
. I think the awd E-Ray will cannibalize some of the Z06 demand. Should be faster accelerating. No charging port? So regen braking only? we'll see https://www.thedrive.com/news/hybrid-2024-awd-corvette-e-ray-leaks-early-new-colors-summer-2023-launch-phev-drivetrain-unlikely .
At $150K over for a well optioned 3LZ (which he said they are) likely will put the cost over $300K. That is lightly used Ferrari territory and high end Porsche GT car territory. And they turned that down. Amazing.
. Dealers are trying to take the 'money left on the table' away from the flippers. Don't blame them. Blame the game. .
Nuts. The his whole ADM business is insane. $20k over seems doable. But 100+ is just insane. I blame Porsche. There is zero reason any modern 911 that’s not a singer should cost anywhere near $400-500k. Others saw that market and now everyone is doing it.
Absolutely! Chevy made about 40,000 C7 Z06s. Sure, production of the C8 has been hampered by Covid and supply chain issues, but everyone knows they're going to be cranking them out as quickly and as soon as they can. Unless you have money to just piss away, paying over MSRP for a mass produced Corvette is simply asinine.
