Oh hell yes. Makes my F8 look tame. Sounds like my 430 with the Tubi exhaust at high RPM. Feels might “tighter” than the last couple mid engine cars.

But I’m biased - I’m on the order book

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a smaller car, but it looks much better in person. It’s smaller but the wheelbase is similar - with the wheels out more like a go-cart. It feels more like a race car.

I think the 296 looks much much better in person. The pictures of the car do not do it justice and I really like the idea of car being made smaller.

I had the pleasure of driving HR Owen's demonstrators recently - both the AF car and the standard car. Decided I preferred the standard car for UK roads - and that's what I've ordered - should arrive in March 2023!

Excepting the 488 and 488 Spyder or 458 Speciale which I don’t own in the mid engines, I have owned or own the rest. For me, this is the best mid-engine in the last 20 years. It is beyond my expectations. Based on the perf numbers, I thought it was going to be Pista+. A different level of driving experience. I just do not know how much better a performance car they can make for the road. It’s lunatic incredible. Previously my favorite mid engine was Pista and I still love it. But this 296 is incredible. Maybe it’s recency bias. But I don’t think so because I can’t wait to get into every time and that didn’t happen with all cars.

Only way to improve it is lower weight to flick the car around so it starts to feel like driving a performance motorcycle in handling and cutting the air. And very importantly, fix the busy steering wheel and matching dash icons/indicators. Beyond that, just insane great.

(Yes still love the rest too, but 296 performance….throttle to the floor is scary great explosive).

How big are you? I’m an average adult and had no issues. I wouldn’t want to climb in with a football player but I wouldn’t want to in my F8 either.

You are asking for exactly the right question. I am 5’10. A couple of more inches could make it tight based on how I sit.

I have a shorter inseam at 31” and sit closer and higher. There is probably 2” between my head and the headliner. My wife couldn’t fully extend her legs in the passenger compartment. She is 5’7”.

  15. There's too much Lotus Evora in the 296.

F8 for the win on looks alone.

Sounds like there will be space. My view stands corrected (no pun intended, but kind of funny) :)
