LOUDEST FERRARI V12 ON THE PLANET! *$12,000 F1 HEADERS SCREAM!* - YouTube
I'm interested in most car things. Especially Ferrari. Put it out there for that reason but I seriously find it hard to watch...
It depresses me that they took a lower mileage car that looked good….why not start with a 50k mile beater? What costs go into that build and then what’s its value afterwards? thank goodness for YouTube revenue….I will be very interested to see the “widebody” treatment next. I’m grateful for the sharing because I don’t normally follow the DDE guys.
Eric, this is what a wide body treatment looks like... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login That's John Tirrell and his 550 GT. It's got side pipes just like the Prodrive 550s! Here he is beating me into the Bus Stop at Watkins Glen... 18:17 And here I am pointing him by in Turn 11 going into the front straight... 4:10 That car is very fast!
I had the volume up (in the bedroom) and my wife just yelled at me from the livingroom…..”don’t even think about it!” You can imagine what I’ll be dreaming about tonight. Maybe in a year or two those fine folks at DDE will tire of their toy and I can wait to be it’s next owner….. ;-)
Agreed….as I watched that video…I literally said out loud “wow that sounds expensive”. That kind of abuse in a 5.0 Ford or LS or heck even a turbo Miata isn’t scary….but that extended rev limiter bounce on an Italian V12…..$$$$$$
No, you don't want that car. Its transmission is already shot. Have John Tirrell do a GT conversion of your car....with side pipes.
With side pipes you'll have none of that extraneous Fabio tubing, just short straight pipes out both sides. Your car will sound just like Colin McRae's Prodrive 550 GTS... Image Unavailable, Please Login I hope you turned down the volume on your computer.
To be clear....I was "hollar'd at" while watching your video! Regarding your comment on the transmission on the grigio DDE car....that and I'm sure a whole bunch more! Racecars are real tough to get even a shadow of the money back out. Does a "drift youtube abused" 550 carry a lower value than a salvage title euro? ;-) Truthfully the turbo miata track car in my garage might never turn a wheel again in anger....who knows....I admit the vintage baja racing scene is where my current sweet spot is......big boy money for sure tracking a Ferrari of any size.
Here are some pics of this beauty at his shop. What a beast, lots of custom carbon fiber bodywork, can’t imagine the cost! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
i remembered this old video, taken at Fiorano test track. Everytime i see such an (sorry) idiot revving the car constantly into the limiter, i remember this video. Daniel
That is really painful to watch, but kind of funny too. I guess we can forgive him since it sounds like Ferrari pays him to do this!
I remember reading on here previously that was intentional (clearly) and it was a water hose blowing, not technically the motor. Gotta say I wouldnt mind getting paid to destroy Ferrari motors if thats what this video is demonstrating
John Tirrell's 550 GT project turned out very well. It was a pleasure sharing the track with him at Watkins Glen and Lime Rock Park.
Eric, prior to getting my F355 Challenge in 2012, I tracked my 550 extensively as did its previous owner. My 550 has more than 10,000 track miles under its belt. I hit the rev limiter several times but never "extensively." The 550's V12 can take high RPMs as could the race engine it was derived from...
