I agree… however the only part of the car that needs a proper break in are the brakes. It is very very important to bed them in properly. May the Horse be with you
This could be the longest running debate on the Internet. I remember over 20 years ago the same discussion. I've got to say I take it slow like you but I've known others do the opposite and have never had a problem. Had a neighbor in the 70s with the same motorcycle. I broke in slow and he had no break-in. When we swapped bikes his was faster even though mine had meticulous care.
Modern engines don't need running in...the tolerances these days are so much tighter than years ago. On top of that Ferrari dyno's their engine properly and runs them hard. Bed in the brakes and good to go. But there's no real harm in running engines in as you see fit, even if it's just for peace of mind.

On the track, that's a few laps. Not more. I doubt it's more for street cars. In fact, why would road legal cars be equiped with brakes that only function correctly after proper bedding in? I can only imagine the class action lawsuits of conumers saying "Oh, but I crashed because the brakes we're properly functiong yet. No one told me to bed them in". I'm sure they will function just a tad better when you bed them in for several miles, but no more than that.
Correct. However technology has improved leaps and bounds. We can't talk about 20 years ago. Let's discuss average Ferrari reliability 20 years ago to now. Again, when we push engines brand new on the track, why treat street engines differently? Especially when they have been tested by Ferrari. At the factory you get the same response. "No need for break in period. Period." If it makes you feel better, go do it. Doesn't hurt; at all. But no loss in not doing so. (except exercising extreme restraint!)
Sorry, I find the lipstick off putting.... However, in this day and age; everyone is accepted for who they are.....! ;-) If you want to wear lipstick as a "V12 beast" go for it.
If they required bedding why wouldn’t Ferrari have their test drivers do it on the road tests? Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Thats a good question and one Ive wondered about. I can tell you with the 599 era of car the brakes definitely were so much better after bedding in. Since the 458 era I dont really notice a big difference from the drivers seat. I think the things that need breaking in: 1- the driver- you need to get used to the car and its performance, for that reason Id do the first 200 miles in no higher than sport mode so you have an extra degree of help if its needed 2- the tires- I think the tire companies understand how these cars are used and they are even better in the first few hundred miles than before, but its still a good practice to go gentle in the first 70-150 miles 3- other mechanical bits like differential, transmission, brakes etc. Ive had engineers at various marques tell me the same thing for over 20 years- take it easy the first 100-200 miles- build up confidence with the machine- then drive it like you stole it [emoji4] Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Great shots to compare Comp is rosso TRS for sure, the Tdf probably too, but not sure. What a pair... No picture credit available as for now Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pictures are from Instagram @abellben, a talent London-based car spotter. From my source the TDF is Rosso Corsa, not TRS, maybe some color experts could distinguish it.
Wow that would be a good idea, hope it will be in London! Miss you a lot when I met your Verde Francesca Pista in the late April, definitely one of the best Pistas I have met, and I also purchased the MR model of that car, hope one day I could bring my model and take a photo with the real car! I love that kind of hommage from one tifosi to another, just like when @Bundy ordered his car in the color created by @Traveller If I create a color combo on a Ferrari and see another person buying the model or ordering the same color I'll feel greatly honorated
That's so cool thank you. And very flattering, it's much appreciated. Each spec is so individual - just amazed at the range of specs emerging on the 812C. With my Pista I decided to deliberately offset its brutal aggression using fewer, elegant colours/textures to amplify Manzoni's gorgeous detailed design. And in doing so creating a new Ferrari colour - Verde Francesca - I was inspired by an elegant 1950's Maserati shade Verde Tevere. Francesca is slightly lighter. Could have been a big miss (as it's always easy to over-spec) but luckily she came out exactly as I had designed in my head. When you're next in town and the weather is warmer (the Pista's tyres don't like cold damp roads) happy to met up with Francesca. PS: I also bought the MR model too - the attention to the original detail is excellent. Have a great Christmas and very best for '23.
Thanks for your reply sir, I must say the tribute is successfully, even Ferrari put it in their Ispirazioni! I hope I could take my small car to meet your big car in the next year in London soon, hope you have a great Christmas and 2023 too!
Can anyone help me get the color code for this car. I think there is no blu china in ferrari color options. Thanks a lot Image Unavailable, Please Login
A London spotter said he asked the owner and the owner said it is Blu China, a new one-off color inspired from Mercedes-Benz’s color: China blue, so of course it isn’t in Ferrari color option, the situation is similar with the green Laferrari in UK, it used the Porsche color Signal Green.
**I could be wrong** but I believe this is Mr. JWW’s car and he did a custom blue, which does appear to be similar to the Merc China Blue color. Its a nice looking blue. I would reach out directly to see if he is willing to share the color information. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Looks like alcantara or super suede in super blu elettrico. I forget which one it’s called…It’s a TM only fabric I believe.
