I will let you all know in < 10 minutes- Options: Michters 10 Bourbon Little Book Bookers Four Roses Basil Hayden Smoke Jeffersons Ocean Woodford Double Oaked Something new...? Cheers
Ok- I'm going to try something new- Choices- Toasted Barrel 18 Year Old Barrel Proof Thoughts? Image Unavailable, Please Login
18 or the B520 barrel proof would be my pick but i'm personally not big on the toasted barrel. lots of other people are though, so if you like marshmallows (a bad choice to eat half a jar of marshmallow fluff at the ripe old age of 6 provided a flavor aversion that stays with me to this day) it's hard to go wrong with any of them. maybe a tasting? it's classy when we call it that.
You read my mind- Toasted was ok but not spectacular- Doing a Little Book while they have it- Then finishing with the Barrel Proof- My self-imposed limit is 3 max
good whiskey is always best in moderation; no sense getting to the point you can't even taste/enjoy the labor of love someone put into that bottle.
Precisely- So Act 1 was Toasted EC - Act 2 is Little Book- Final Act is going to be the Barrel Proof EJ - 127.2 Proof- May take some to run in the Ferraris!!
Weller Wednesday! I'll be finishing off a bottle of the same in a little bit. A few errands to run first though. Most notably my four-legged-son needs more food and he will be INCREDIBLY disgusted with my performance as "father" if he doesn't have it at exactly 5:23 tomorrow morning.
I forgot to take a pic, but I opened a Weller Single Barre, a Bomberger’s 2022, and a Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit for some friends last night. JK
Doing a 12-day advent calendar with my bourbon club. Came out swinging with a Heaven"s Door 10yr pick and our Old Elk pick for the first 2 days. Old Elk kicked in a nice glass to boot. Sadly I have a couple hours left before "holiday telework" starts but excited to see whats on for today!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yesterday was a nice 10yr whistlepig. Today may already have been opened (the calendar, not the dram lol) and it's the club's knob creek pick. Should be a lovely one. I think i need to order another bottle of that old elk pick i forgot how delicious it was. chocolate, graham crackers, and bananas foster!!
The Bardstown Collaborative Series West Virginia Barrel Co rye is very good ... $100 good, not $170 good. I'm wondering how the whiskey world is going to adapt to the economic pendulum. I would assume that many folks will stop chasing rare stuff and overpaying for average stuff and will revert back to good quality lower priced bourbon, the same way that they'll stop paying over sticker for Kia Tellurides. I know that if my economic prospects were on the decline the first thing I'd give up is high end bourbon and would happily get my freak on with WT 101 till things turned around. But I've miscalculated this stuff before and have been surprised how much folks on a budget are willing to spend on something they pee away the next day.
