Just out of curiosity, what is or has been the "average" quantity of 206/246 Dinos for sale/on the market around the globe at any given time, let's say in past 15+ years ?
    30 ? 50 ?

I know Daytona figures haven't traditionally been quite that high, but being rarer than Dino's in general, makes sense.

we had this debate a year ago or so ...

I argued less than 10 in the US

then others argued that worldwide there were more

I think we found maybe 15 others

I think currently there could be 20 worldwide ?

I don’t remember this discussion before, but could be wrong.

My guess would be maybe 10-ish in the Us, Maybe 10-ish in Europe, and maybe a couple of others.

Not the easiest thing to track because I know of several Dino’s that are “on the market”, but they have already sold. The ads are old.

Notice all of the “cheap” offered Dino’s are gone immediately, go figure.....

Another point, and I admit I sounded like a crazy person a year ago, now no one clenches at a number that starts with a 4 or 5, not even really a 6......

The good stuff is never cheap and never hits the market. Those numbers, well, .....

What I said almost two years ago, that shipped sailed as well......

    I admit I have a bias, BUT....

I am always asked about Dino’s because people know me as a Dino guy.

Literally all the time, several times a month.

I know exactly ZERO people asking/interested in a Daytona, or anything older than that period for that matter ( I don’t agree but it is what it is).

On the other hand, if I had leads on Sub 3-350k Dino’s, I could literally sell/refer all day long.

I am in Houston, a literally SMALL level interest in vintage cars, especially Dino’s. LOTS OF INTEREST HERE FOR DINO. Makes me really wonder.

Tomorrow is our Ferrari Festival, our reason to come together and raise money for Texas Children’s Hospital, a cause we all love.

I will report back and see how many people are interested in Dino and/or something else vintage. Last years, other than Dino, no interest generated other than 80’s, except Dino.

I must say I'm quite surprised/perplexed that with so many alleged/self-proclaimed(?) market/price trend/perceived value experts and/or followers around here or in the BaT, etc peanut galleries, nobody appears to be able to offer practical "insight" to my fairly simple(?) curiosity.
Or could it just be that nobody's actually kept their hand on the pulse of the overall Dino availability/market over the years or decades ?

P.S. I have LOTS OF INTEREST in variety of vintage cars, including many older Ferraris, but that doesn't have anything to do with how many such cars are, or has traditionally been, available.

I would say at any given times, may 20-25 could be available. Most stay on the market because the value/price does not correlate. I think this has held true for the last 15 years, with often times less. Most are in US/Europe. Most RHD ones tend to stay in those markets, so don’t have as much international exposure

    Thanks.
Is this ^^ just a guess or have you actually kept track ?
Regardless, compared to Daytonas, both in general appeal(?), availability and original production quantities, etc, your numbers (or estimate) seems almost (too ?) low.

I have followed it for years. Not as much as I used to. I used to post a ton of details when they would hit the market on for F-chat years ago. I stopped doing that for other reasons.

The best ones never hit the market publicly. Within a couple of phone calls they are sold. It’s not like the olden days where it was actually an enthusiast around trying to sell it, almost everything goes through brokers for the most part. Not saying that being critical, It just is different

I bought my Dino 5 years ago

I had looked on and off for 2 years prior to buying 07798 - GTS

I found myself searching and finding the same cars over and over

I would get excited when a new one popped up

I paid for two inspections and bought neither

I went to NY for the holidays - on a lark went to look at one with a dealer in Long Island - drove it - wanted it - it was in some multi car deal that was falling apart

I had to wait for it to fully shake loose

    It did

    I bought it

Waited for the shipper - got it on Super Bowl Sunday - I think it was the year the Pats came way back against Atlanta

the market was supposedly soft when I was really looking - it had been up near 500 for a nice car -

so....I still think TX above is right - the market value will rise and fall a little bit - but the inventory has remained consistently kinda tight

my biased opinion is that all the Dino owners secretly believe they are sitting on a million dollar asset - they are just waiting for the world to recognize that truth

and while they wait ? they remain in LIVE with Dino ownership

I personally get calls from brokers and collectors I know asking if my car is for sale because they have a client looking etc ...

Thanks for your comments, but with all due respect, they aren't addressing my original curiosity/question and aren't really anything Dino specific nor unique as far as personal experiences either.

Same observations would apply to just about all "collectible"(?) cars, ownership experiences and has for decades, regardless of their make, model or vintage, but probably more so with cars at higher (perceived) value realm.

Almost all owners who view their whatever collectible/exotic/vintage cars or collections as financial assets/investments/etc commonly tend to believe (some openly, some "secretly") theirs being better and/or far more valuable than others available at any given time (just ask them ), but that's just human nature/psychology.

And if I got a penny for every time I or someone I know "get calls/emails/texts/etc/ from brokers ... ...asking if my/their car is for sale because they have a client looking etc ...", my piggy banks would be overflowing.

Back to the thread topic: Would anyone have a practical answer or an educated guess to my original question ? If not, oh well.

FWIW and not necessarily reflecting any specific moment in time, but as a general reference, I took a quick peek into BaT world, which obviously is just one of countless marketing tools/venues for these types of cars and saw there having been at least 18 Dino listings on it this year alone, majority by dealers.

Comparatively, there had been 6 Daytona listings on BaT in the same time frame (2022) and majority by (mostly same few) dealers too.

I didn’t bother looking what percentage had been declared “Sold”.

Apologies - was never my intention to side track your question - I guess a better answer would have been - I honestly have zero idea how many Dinos are on the market at any given time - on average in the last 15 years - would love to know tho

    No problem John. :)
All good, except we still don't have answers to satisfy our curiosity. :(
I would've thought there being enough long term Dino enthusiasts/followers able to offer some.
