While not Greg's Magnum 27, I don't think he will mind if I put up a sister of his Magnum, same power plant 2x Merc -Chev 327s (period) Carl is 1st mate..
For me nothing comes close to Dry Martini with her big blocks running mechanical injection. She was for sale also ........damm..
Greg steering ,me on throttles and Carl navigation ...winners .. I've met the last owner of The Cigarette , before she was broken up about 15 years , he still retained the two big blocks and the stern drives . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
These were great division 2 boats in the 1980s ., Magnum 28 footers powered by a single 500ci Merc on injection,I understand this boat is around Geelong , be a great project ,I knew and worked for the owners in the late 1970s ../early 80s . be surprised in the day they were towed up and down the east coast from Melbourne to Hamilton island ,great times .. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes old school Magnum 27 with a couple of period small block Chevs .. Greg and I are going for a ride next week ..100 litres per hour burn. Same hull as this ,I'll get photos . Image Unavailable, Please Login
carl's Magnum 27 has period race history ,not sure if he want's the name and photos up as another boat in the States is also claiming the name and race history . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yep 80mph boats, unlike old F1 ,very few of these boats survive ,the hulls take a pounding and break up ,or are turned into cruisers and lost . If I could find that Magnum 28 with the single 500ci Merc, be a blast to cruise down the bay channel with Carl racing along doing an easy 40 knots . This is a great boat .
That’s great, what a classic looking brute, I’ll bet there’s not much of that hull in the water at full tilt [emoji51] Thanks Rob, very exciting indeed [emoji106]
