Day 5 of the club's advent calendar contained Saint Cloud batch #2 and HOLY FREAKIN CRAP did I ever open a can of worms with this one when I posted it on IG (so much so I deleted the post entirely).

Suffice it to say I had never heard of Saint Cloud before today. Turns out the guy who 'runs' it is Ray Walker of Maison Ilan "fame". People fail in business. I get it. I do not even BEGIN to begrudge someone who strikes out on their own and isn't successful the first go. Odds are unbelievably stacked against you a huge amount of the time.

But Ray? Ray's.....yeah. I will, for the sake of decorum, simply say "give Ray Walker Maison Ilan a google" and leave it at that. Yikes.

Desperation can make people do some crazy stuff. I won't personally judge someone because I don't know what in their life has led to the point where I become aware of it. But I can say how he has conducted himself SINCE....does not leave a positive image in my head. Can't say I'll knowingly purchase anything he's involved with due to the research I've conducted.

Anywho. Whisk(e)y. Wild Turkey 13yr Father/Son to cap the night.

(Also I'm on track to retire in a couple years, will be heading to CO when that happens...give me hints on which shops to frequent for a while before asking about good stuff ;) )

Right on man! We have a couple friends out yonder (and a couple more headin that way as a friend retires outta Vegas soon to hit up a new gig with Lockheed) and they've sent photos of some of the C&C events they've hit up. To say I'm salivating is an understatement. Loads of great cars and culture out this way too, but you get the cars *WITH* mountain backdrops? Heaven.

Glad to hear, mine just arrived. He also sent me a shot of his full vertical he's been stashing, to include Encore. Sadly he only got the one Encore and said he was selfishly keeping it for himself. I reminded him that as a fella who regularly sends them to me with "merry christmas" in the box and refusing to accept even a 20-dollar donation towards postage, he's fully entitled to keep whatever the hell he feels like :D

That said, today's advent calendar is a Michter's Toasted Sour Mash.

I'll be honest, I know how nuts people go over Elijah Toasted. I just can't get into it. I'm not sure, I guess if i was paying that much for a bottle of Elijah I'd just score barrel proof instead. I guess I'm weird like that.

The Michter's, though excellent, disappears *SO* dang fast that unless I saw it at MSRP on a shelf I'd probably pass it up (have seen it locally but for almost $200....no thank you).

It's quite tasty though. A better option than the Elijah to my tongue, but also ridiculously notorious for disappearing within minutes of going on a shelf. Maybe I'm just a crotchety ******, who knows. :p

Very nice haul! Store pick Full Proof isn’t always an easy find. I got one last year when Binny’s got theirs.

If you get a chance for some of their other bottles (Sweet Wheat, Bottled in Bond, Full Proof, Single Barrel) highly recommend!

My wife and I are moving to Park City for a few months to test-drive mountain-life. Our house is a 2-minute walk away from the saloon!
