Continuation of: For Sale - 1991 US version Testarossa SN 87406 (VIN: ZFFSG17AXM0087406) Has every electrical update that every TR needs to be reliable (there are more needed than just the usual burned up white fuse-relay panel connectors): Connections added inside the fuse-relay panel from the AC, fuel pump, and cooling fan relays to bypass the typical white fuse-relay panel connector terminals prone to burning (no added relays – all original relays remain in their original positions). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Direct (reliable) grounds added to the pin #2 wires of the KE-Jet Injection ECUs (ensures correct Lambda operation – the stock TR harness design for this critical grounding is a terrible piece of spaghetti with buried unreliable crimp connectors). Parallel jumper added from the w connector to the y connector for the start command signal going to starter solenoid (improves the reliability of starting): Image Unavailable, Please Login Parallel jumper added from the w connector to the y connector for the brake light signal (improves the reliability of brake light operation): Image Unavailable, Please Login Parallel jumper wire added for the instrument ground wire in w connector directly to chassis ground (reduces the needle deflection of instrument gauges when the external lights are turned “on”): Image Unavailable, Please Login Auxiliary (hidden) DPDT center-off switch added to HVAC system to allow vent only, vent+blower only, or full HVAC operation when using the HVAC pushbuttons. Window Accelerator Relays added that are easily accessible and replaceable – see: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/tr-slow-window-fix-adding-accelerator-relays-at-c1-and-c9.663123/ Window speeds excellent. NHTSA Automatic Seatbelt Recall done by Ferrari of Denver in July 2006 and all working well. New BFGoodrich Tires (G-Force Sport Comp 2 - 225/50R16 Front, 255/50R16 Rear) at 83.4K miles in 2019. Due for next major service (last done Jan 2012 by Moorespeed at 63,284 miles, but needs nothing to be driven rationally to anywhere in the continental US from my house in Round Rock, TX. Last major service was very comprehensive with head gaskets replaced, SRI TR hose kit installed, and Heater Hoses replaced (see attached receipt “TR SN 87406 – Major Service at Moorespeed.pdf” file). Only other known problems are the AC system needs to be recommissioned/recharged (AC Compressor needs rebuild) and the Driver’s Mirror up-down motion not working (but have confirmed the center console switch and wiring to the mirror assembly are OK = up-down motor bad in LH mirror assembly). If you want an unsorted, low-mile garage queen TR, this is not the car for you, but, if you want a well-sorted, still-very-presentable Daily Driver that has many desirable updates (Newman diff, Tubi, 512TR windshield. all electric issues sorted, etc.), you can drive a (now reliable ) legendary flat-12 Ferrari for the price of a 308QV. Priced for quick sale at $97,000 (I would rather give the Buyer a good price than give B.A.T. or eBay a large fee). Contact me at: [email protected]
Wow! 1. Beautiful, well-maintained car! 2. Incredibly detailed ad. 3. The seller is a great Fchat member that is always willing to help others with technical questions. 4. I can't believe that you're selling it after 20 years of ownership! 2cam
Wishing you all the best on your sale but what a loss for the TR community! You are truly a king among men, what an incredibly sorted car and what a VALUE! Wow, GLWS, this isn't one to kick tires on. Just go fly down, drive the thing home. Amazing.
Steve, you’re selling your TR?? If my wife would allow, which is very very unlikely, I’d snatch it up in a heartbeat at that price.
Incredibly well written ad !!! Any guesstimate at what it would cost to get the AC up and running again?
It depends on the Shop doing the major service. When I researched it, a company in Pomona, CA could rebuild a Sanden AC compressor for a few hundred $s, so IMO a couple of thousand $s should cover it (and being part of the major should help as having the powerplant out gives them good access to flush out all the lines without adding a bunch of extra labor). Of course, if the shop buys a new compressor from Ferrari for 1,400 pounds = they could probably run the bill up to $4K -- or higher, if they decide to fill up the parts cannon .
Steve, Can’t believe you are selling!…We’ll miss you greatly in the TR section. Thanks for all the help you gave to all through all those years. François « UpNorth » Giroux
Sale Pending (via eBay) -- but won't change it to "SOLD" until it has actually driven away and the money is in my account. Lasted a little under 2 hours (I guess I dropped the price too much going to $87K ): https://www.ebay.com/itm/115681885714?hash=item1aef2d7e12:g:x0UAAOSwcP5jzgJq&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAAsMKvAHRROF3k5xJMW6pGFw0aimNpewDAFLROLNJsNZsbTZmroDq7zENOYTsJYev2f2ijDLd/qo9Okj0fVwjnoEduSG7wnRfv1o7AaN1iQnbX6AqhfZ1JkqYPuRB72zANPOeGxtXuccNmHiz7ax16RcbkbH36MSZBlhdhFYUMviKf8EnvMpZ42PZ5bvzpJt0wOQBVfrskNM9u5jMDyIhW3OqVoeQEnpMgLtFGab+UaBlS|tkp:Bk9SR9ik6Pu7YQ
Congrats. Great deal, especially considering the care and documentation. --> "bought it in Mar 2000 with ~13.4K miles) to the present day." <-- That's gotta hurt some.
