In my experience nobody stands up for the cardholder like AmEx Platinum. One phone call and it’s done, basically no questions asked.

I have the same card and have had the same experience too. I guess consumer protection rules vary from country to country. Apparently, and perhaps only in this regard, the US is better than some. My experience has been that if you don't get your item (or if it's the wrong item or damaged) you are under no obligation to pay.

I think AmEx basically puts the onus on the vendor to prove why payment is due, rather than in the cardholder to prove why it isn’t.

Recently, I had three DHL parcels, one from Italy, one from Switzerland and one from Britain. Each of them was delivered the next (!) day here in Germany!!! And I had two FedEx parcels, one from Britain, one from Switzerland, for which I paid hilarious shipping costs for 24-hour express delivery. Both FedEx parcels needed 5 (!) days. So, my favourite remains DHL. All the more as DHL delivers on Saturdays, which FedEx refuses to do.

Marcel you should make more books. Your the smartest person on earth when it comes to Ferrari and you have tons of you own Ferrari photos. Seems like a natural process!!

I’m sure DHL is fine in the euro zone but it’s atrocious in the US. Nobody here ships with DHL.

The comment above about location I think is spot on. In the past six months I have ordered four books from the UK and they were from three sources that all used DHL. They were each placed in their hands on a Monday with a notice of expected delivery on the following Friday. In each of these orders they were delivered to me in excellent condition early on Wednesday. 48 hours from the UK to me in the Charlotte, NC area is more than one can expect and I attributed it to them shipping it into the CLT airport and getting it to me immediately. There is noting that I could say negatively about them. Just one persons good experience.

    I agree.

I have good experiences with DHL & DPD.
The worst are UPS by a long way followed by Hermes now called evri. FedEx is close behind them so I always try to use the first two.

It does depend on where you live. From Europe DHL, from Japan Fedex. Funny thing is many of those companies you like use UPS, Fedex, DHL aircraft to get to the destination. They don't have dedicated freighters of their own.

Ok, one last post about DHL and then I’ll mercifully shut up about it.:)

The package in question was delivered about three hours ago, but DHL’s tracking information says it’s still about 200 miles from the destination.

With the countdown to News Years Eve on here I've recently looked over all my book purchases for 2022.

Question: What was the best book you purchased in 2022?

Just to make it a bit more interesting name your favourite 2022 published / released book, and if you bought an older book you finally picked up this year you can name that as well.

    My two picks.

    Best 2022 released book: Ferrari F40 / Porter Press / N. Bluemel

Best older book bought this year: Ferrari by Mailander / K. Ludvigsen

I didn’t buy any books in 2022 aside from a couple of memoirs, Ed Niles’s Adventures in Ferrari Land and Sam Posey’s Scraobook. I admire both men enormously and the books are very different in format and presentation, so I can’t really favor one over the other.

Richard Jenkins' Ginther biography was probably my best Ferrari read of 2022. Really insightful about a driver who was involved in a number of cutting edge F1 programs. Ordered on line via performance publishers UK. They're not a coffee table publisher but have some unusual and well researched racing histories at reasonable cost. Also enjoyed a Stephen South bio I picked up from them.

My favourite is Jim Hunter's fabulous little "The Ferrari Place". What a splendid book!

Going up the price hierarchy, I would choose (sorry!) Porsche 911 GT2. And Simon Moore's continued 8C story surely is close to it.

for me too Jim Hunter's little "The Ferrari Place" Book is really worth to read and read many times.
But Keith's F40 Book is also excellent.

Best book bought 2022 is easy: "Inside Track" - Collectors Edition + Racing Autobiography.

Best book bought 2022 that was also released in 2022 is difficult:
    - Ferrari F40 by Keith Bluemel
    - Brun Motorsport
    - The 8C Story Continues by Simon Moore
    - Lamborghini At The Cutting Edge Of Design by Gautan Sen
    - Porsche 911 GT2 (released in 2021?)
Probably I would go for the Brun Motorsport book.

I must find out a bit more about it and consider buying it.

My favorite new book for the year was "The Ferrari Place", but being an Atlantan, I'm probably a bit biased, since I know some of the people mentioned in the book.

My best older book purchase was, of course, the copy of "Ferrari in Camera" that I was able to acquire in the last month of the year.

I think it is one of the most interesting releases on the entire Lamborghini history in a long, long while and it's beautifully produced :) It is for sure my pick for the best 2022 release

Yes! That story is covered in the book. Brun tells the story how they went to Fiorano with a 959 and met Gerhard Berger with an F40. Ferrari was not amused - as they still not are in these affairs - that there could be some sort of track test between the cars. As Brun tells, he was allowed to go on the track, and then stopped right behind the little bridge which runs over the track and waited for Berger in his F40. And then, they switched cars, so that Berger could enjoy and test the 959.
