The question was not aimed at you. Not sure why you feel the urge to comment on it. I want to know if there is another shop that did it first time and how long it took.

I think the statement of An experienced Ferrari specialist will in the best scenario charge you a minimum of 70-80 hours got me going. That would be taking advantage of in my opinion. But I'll bail out now if u wish and see if someone comes in for your answer. It's all good.

Thanks but it’s not unusual to be “Ferrari taxed”. It would be nice to compare and useful for someone negotiating with their shop in the future.

Lorenzo, before you bail out I have a question for you. Isn't the throwout bearing different in a manual than in the F1? When I was looking at parts to replace during my conversion, you know "get stuff done while the transmission is dropped", I came across two different versions, one for the F1 and another for the manual. Art told me it didn't matter, the F1 version could be used. However, I still bought the manual version and had them install it.

I think the greatest thing about dropping the transmission, is its a good opportunity to replace things that are going to need replacing in these older cars and to do it economically. Things such as engine and transmission mounts, headers, water/oil pump, clutch, bearings, flywheel resurfacing or a new one etc. I bought the parts for all of these and Art didn't charge me to install any of them, which I'm sure saved me a lot of money.

Yes your correct the throwout bearing is different in the manual than f1. Modificator mentions that in a post above and that's where the extra time comes in if u wanna change your throwout bearing for brake fluid like a factory manual shift car is, or run hydraulic fluid at which you don't have to Pull the gearbox.

I thought the throw out bearing was the same on both manual/f1 430’s, save for the seal materials? I.e you could reuse your f1 bearing, you would just need to remove the seals, clean it out, and install new seals. Same for the flange as well that supports it.

Bearing is the same, it's the seals that are different material

You can always install the carbon panels you want, save your originals, and reinstall the originals when you sell. You get the benefit of the look you prefer, you save wear and tear on your originals, and you can recoup most of the money for your carbon panels if you sell your car without. My original engine panels are preserved while I enjoy the carbon ones.

Most of the converted 430s sold on BAT have brought a price that made the conversion worthwhile.

Robin If I may add to this if someone is gonna go so far as to remove the gear Box And change out the seals they are better off putting in a new hills engineering bearing

That's all I did. From my understanding the o rings behind the blue seals on the TOB are the failure point. The o rings behind the flange are the same for F1 as well as manual.

It's easier just to change out the throw out bearing to Hill Engineering's, no?

Well in my opinion its worth it just to change out the bearing since its already apart

Resealing the TOB isn't very hard, but yes, upgrading it to the hill engineering one would be better. I will at some point.

with all due respect people who don’t have diy skills are forced to buy a dealer serviced car… and are forced to seek pro help… that’s fine and that’s smart… but that does not make a diy a bad or poor route.

this platform is easy to work on
There is a Huge mark up due to perceived marque mystique and perceived complexity

diy folks don’t put shade on check book owners… but do your homework… because I’ve had busy times where I sucked it up and send my car to the high $$$ experts only to have shiiite results.

A new update is from an NGS video on YouTube. Seems like EAG will be offering kits again soon as Dan from NGS said they will be doing some videos of the conversion kit based on the instructions that EAG is putting together. I guess competition is a good thing as the Dr. S. kit must have pushed them to offer kits to the outside world again.

FYI: My disclaimer, I am not associated with NGS or EAG, just a fan of Dan's NGS videos on YouTube. In full disclosure, I do NOT plan on converting my car to a manual, that's why I have a 996 GT3. I actually love my 2009 F1 and love it even more since the new accumulator but am following all the conversion threads anyway.

I’m still waiting for the day when some one converts a gated car to f1 someday. Think it will ever be a thing?

I'll do it if I win the lottery just to irritate the people who base their personality on driving a manual.

    Happy New Year from Canada!

It appears that myself and a few others from Canada are curious to know if we would want to get the Conversion done is there a place in Canada that has done it and would be willing to do more of them?

I don't want to break any forum rules directly or in-directly so if the answer to this question is not supposed to be in this chat please do direct me to which chat I may ask this question.

In my case I have had various Ferrari models from the 328 up to the F430 and I do favor the Manual but I also very much liked the F430 F1 experience.

I have been without a Ferrari for a few years and then prices went thru the roof so I stayed on the side-lines but now that the dust is settling I have stepped up my search for a F430, F1 or Manual.

I would be happy with an F1 and would only consider the Manual Conversion if the F1 started to give me re-occurring issues.

So that is the background reason for my request, no hidden agenda, kind of odd I feel the need to state that but this thread has gone up and down and a bit sideways a few times so I figured I should get that out of the way.

I hope this question helps some other Guys/Gals/Significant others in Canada.

    Ciao,
    Carm
