For sure, some of it is age, but I think some of it is a reaction to the current "automotive times" these days, and I think I would feel the same if I was 28, 38, or the 48 that I am now. Things constantly change and evolve in the automotive world, but it feels like there's a sea change afoot these past years with the push to electrification, greater complexity, everything touch-screen, more autonomous vehicles, etc., and all of it is a turn-off to a traditional "car guy" like me. On top of that, today's vehicles are huge and new car prices are higher than ever. No thanks. Glad I live in a rural area and no one ever stands on my lawn
And for today's example of 'unique Russian' vehicle design, I give you this stellar example for your viewing pleasure. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And at the 'other end' of the design continuum, I think this is pretty cool. Takes the Bertone Stratos Zero and Lambo design vocabulary and winds up looking very contempo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just bought an Ipad pro and Apple pencil. Started messing around with an app called Procreate. Interesting re-learning how to draw on a sheet of glass instead of paper. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations, very nice. I tried to sketch on my iPad as well and met with less stellar results. Keep going!
It seems my life revolves around Pete Brock at the moment.\; more on the Hino Samuri -- https://bringatrailer.com/2022/12/28/road-track-road-tests-the-bre-hino-samurai/
Yah well every time I sketch a car they come out with the proportions of a Hot Wheel. Hard to break old habits.....
Still playing around on the ipad. Its not a subtle thing to use. When you select "airbrush", its not like using a real airbrush. You don't really know what you're going to get. I have to learn masking. Haven't figured that out yet. Its going to take a lot of trial and error to get it down but one one good thing is you can try something and immediately erase it if you don't like it. Can't do that on paper. So I think in the end you might end up experimenting more using it than the more traditional way.
You're being VERY KIND-- I am so out of practice. But the entire idea to have fun when drawing and this is pretty fun.
Something you may want to consider is what most of the young designers do. Do a typical pencil sketch, then scan it to whatever program you use and tune it up and render digitally. Plenty of YouTube videos available. This guy has some great rendering tutorials:https://www.youtube.com/@BerkKaplanDesigner/featured
Having no experience in sketching or making 3d models from scratch, I have an extensive 3D model car collection and am able to mash together various cars a majority of the time to get a desired shape... but I initially start with photoshop to get the right look. With that design, my base would be a Lotus Esprit and go from there... although I see its more of a Countach.
