OK, we'll elect a steering committee to workshop a strategy to select a focus group to... what was the question again?
Nice. Well done. While I didn’t quite get why you wanted to do this, it seems genuine enough. Not sure why the owner of a car is supposed to be un-findable. It’s a car. Whoop-de-****ing do. Anyone can search publicly to find the owner of an aircraft, house, company, whatever. Things that are worth way more than a car. What’s the big deal?
I know, it's ridiculous really, same reason some people block out their numberplate when posting pictures of their cars, like it's not publicly available when you drive it on the street
Numberplates are blocked for other reasons Beleive me once youve had plates copied and received multiple fines and tolls and burglarys done, you dont mind looking a bit stupid and blocking your plates on ads I wont go into all the reasons but they are very legitimate
Surely I can't be the only person who knows David C owned this car back then along with a QV and the Miura. But my recollection is that he sold both Countaches when he relocated from the Sunny Coast to Victoria. $295k for the QV and low $200's for the S2 springs to mind. Some of you admired David's white Miura SV at Motorclassica last year.
So that's why I lost my license, someone else did all that stuff and I'm innocent ? I knew I was being targeted wrongly
Blocking your plate in an ad is one thing (although it does beg the question - do you cover it up when you drive the car?), but being precious about someone wanting to find the history of a car they consider important is another. Especially when everyone goes a bit weak-kneed when an article appears somewhere uncovering the history and details of a special car. We all love that. Isn’t that kind of what this guy is trying to do?
No credible person would use fchat to get information about anything, let alone a special car. You don't have the right to "dox" someone on social media, particularly when they're not taking part in the discussion. Even more so when it's obvious they value their privacy. That some nobody (who calls us Bourgeoisie btw) in another country thinks he is owed private details because he has a collection of lolly wrappers is beyond a joke.
Poor Carl. Lol. No doubt all of the people mentioned in this thread gave their express permission for their cars to be discussed? https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/w-h-lowe-image-archive.646098/ There are endless threads and posts on this website about who owned what car and who did what to it and where is it now. Short of naming the current owner - which has not happened- all this “privacy” stuff is laughable BTC BS.
Carl has a lot of knowledge and is widely respected. Similarly there is a network of long term owners (and brokers) who all know each other and are well known, such that a reasonably experienced car person will know who to call for information. Without working through 47 pages of Carl's thread, I am reasonably sure that the only people whose full names are disclosed are either deceased or past owners. The convention we use on here for current owners is the first name and initial of the surname. Again, you're welcome to dox yourself, but not anyone else.
Surely the easiest solution is for someone who DOES know the owner to show this thread to them and let them decide if they want the contact?
While we're,well some here are,naming folks...whom's is this collection?? Bowden's? https://www.lloydsonline.com.au/AuctionLots.aspx?smode=0&aid=36588&_ga=2.215544464.603832720.1672730244-1998332766.1615438467
Thanx, did you clear that with the welcome to country/smoking ceremony committee.............................................................or did you just ask Ian if it was OK?
