It’s hard to catch this on a photo but there are 2 indentations on the front bumper near the hood. Is this an easy fix? I got the car 2 weeks ago and it’s been like that since I got it. I’ve seen other Lussos and F12s with similar indentations Were the screws tightening too much? Suggestions on a fix would be appreciated Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Really? I was told it's just a fact of living with the Lusso. Someone actually just mesaged me on IG that it's a weak spot on these cars. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Mine was not very well aligned after they had to adjust something with the bumper (IIRC it was when they removed and wrapped it), and I took it in to get adjusted at the dealership. I remember the tech showing me there were two bolts [or something] under the panels in the front? OP: either the dealer or I'm sure a savvy body shop tech could figure it out if you know one.
I took my lusso to the Ferrari dealership a couple weeks ago and they could not fix the wavy bumper, any additional suggestions?
I am in absolute shock that someone else has this issue. Its bugged me for years!!! I am likely gonna order a new cover and have the front painted. That’s the only option. I took it to my local body shop and he said the whole bumper is “wavy”. No way to fix it. Eurospares has the best price I hate to see this happen to someone else but happy I’m not nuts and have some one off f’d up Lusso. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My body shop guy, who is top notch, told me it’s poor under support combined with heat/ sun damage…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Ferrari body shop fixed mine on the F12 when they did the vent corrosion free of charge, I think they just had to loosen the bolts and pack them correctly.
I think it’s much more noticeable on darker color cars. I’ll call around to see if I can find a shop willing to attempt the fix. Anyone have a link to purchase a new bumper? Seems extreme but interested in the price. Thanks
All depends if you have the front view camera. I have a 2017, no camera. PN 89293810 $3,146 on Eurospares Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had the same issue on my F12. There are 4 bolts holding the bumper cover down near the hood, all with shims. I found the shims were set so high that it caused the cover to indent downward. I removed the shims and placed foam pipe insulation found at Lowes/Home Depot under the cover at the locations of the indentions. The foam insulation softly but securely restored the original contours of the bumper cover and allowed for proper alignment with the hood/headlights. Obviously, it required a bit of tweaking and adjustment, but it has been the single best improvement I've made to this car since purchasing it.
Unfortunately, I did not. But I can post some before and after shots showing it wavy to smooth. In the OP photos, the 3 hex bolts that you see near the hood release are removed which clears the way to remove the center piece of weather stripping. This exposes the bolts and shims that that secure the cover to the frame. The insulation is sold in various diameters, and I basically pulled up on the cover and stuffed the insulation where and in the amount it was needed. I then used a shim or two where needed and put it back together.
JPSMD. Thanks so much for this info. Some pics would be great and sounds like it’s a good DIY project. Do you remember what diameter pipe insulation you used? The dimples have driven me nuts for years!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Im with @gilly6993 as I would love some documentation and pics on this. I notice the dimples every time I look at my car
Has anybody tried to heat up the underside gently with a heat gun on low, while pushing the bumper out? I wonder if it would be enough to permanently remove the bump.
They look the worst in the sun. I try to park so I walk up to it looking a the rear. My body shop guy couldn’t believe what he was seeing. I’m definitely gonna try this fix and worst case scenario I’ll replace the bumper at some point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great video Duff. Good improvement but as you said not great. I have a 2017 also. Being in the dead of winter up here I’ll likely wait until the Spring to make my attempt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Didn’t realize this was even an issue. I have a 2014 F12 myself and fortunately that has never happened in almost 2 years of ownership. Thanks for sharing the video DuffAce, hopefully that does the trick for you. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Image Unavailable, Please Login Here’s my end result. My car look the same as Duffs. I used an ENTIRE 6 ft piece of rubber pipe foam. A big T8 hex was used to push the foam in. Getting it deep and packed in is key. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
