A bit of data with respect to Andretti last year in today's AutoSport with more Audi / Sauber talk or plans. In real terms Audi/VW family has more 'weight' than Andretti in terms of 'value' it appears - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/audis-f1-plans-take-shape-as-announcement-looms/10356807/

Discussions have now advanced with Sauber, after its owner Finn Rausing previously rejected an offer from Michael Andretti to sell the team for 350 million euros at the end of 2021.

It was suggested that Rausing insisted on the continued existence of the Sauber Group at the Hinwil site and the preservation of jobs, and also demanded a further 250 million euros as a contribution to the team in order to be sure the team was in safe hands.

In the end, Andretti walked away because of terms it could not accept.

    Factory plans
With Audi, Sauber is getting a strong partner who, according to sources, is prepared to pay more than Andretti for a smaller percentage of the company. Rausing is set to remain on board as a minority owner.

There is also the promise to further develop Sauber as a factory team - very similar to how the Sauber-BMW partnership worked between 2006 and 2009.

Money, connections and corporate power are more powerful than a name Mario. No it’s not right but it’s F1 currently.

    Should this list include:
    Brabham
    Copersucar
    Eagle
    Ensign
    Fittipaldi
    Hesketh
    Ligier
    Surtees
    Wolf

Andretti Eagle has a nice ring to it.

Agree. I could not remember all the classic teams. they might have some issue with Fittipaldi since he's still alive, like Stewart GP.... but still a good idea.

actually I think the F-2 Teams should have to adopt a "franchise" so that the teams can move in and out of F-1 to F2.... I also think the teams should be able to enter a 3rd car for 1/2 the races - of their choice for 1/2 points. that would spice up the championship and give more strategy to the teams / Drivers. Also the 3rd car would have to be a driver who is not currently in F-1 an up and coming driver OR a veteran driver & Hero drive.... ( seems unlikely but could be interesting )

Good. Let's have Andretti and another team to get 4 more seats available for promising drivers. It is 12 team maximum, correct?

Question: Does the Concorde Agreement require that the teams agree to adding additional teams or is it only required that FIA and Liberty agree?

I know the top teams won't like it. Less of a pie for everyone money wise.

Oh dear.....is this going to be 'The Andretti F1 Entertainment Network ' opportunity?
    Sorry... check out the NFL.
Then check out IMSA BoP rules.
Michael Andretti is trying to jump into F1 at just the right time....when motorsport becomes racertainment. Gotta keep Mario in good health for as long as possible...it's gonna be great. Yup.

Is Andretti's engine deal still with Renault, or is there a door open to Alfa? Just promise me no mat paint...the glossy Alfa looks great on the grid. So a Dallara chassis and a tbd engine. I still don't know why Haas doesn't sell.

I would be surprised if the FIA and Liberty can ignore the 10 teams that signed of the Concorde Agreement, in favour of an outside party.

I guess there would be a lot of horse trading behind close doors before they reach a new agreement; something like lifting the budget cap perhaps ?

  17. DF1

They can’t. The current top 3 win the sport in terms of influence. McLaren are openly in favour of a new team. Essentially 8 are not. To gain those votes a lot of things are to be traded not just horses lol

3rd party engine and technical input via Andretti and Cadillac. Does that sound strong as Porsche etc? RedBull / Ford sound similar. Is F1 - flavor of the month for US makers?

--The potential team would initially receive a power unit supply from another engine manufacturer, but both Andretti and Cadillac are set to offer technical support as part of a collaboration.--

I would expect a Cadillac F1 car to not porpoise at all and be the most comfortable ride in the field :)

Ford has a long history in F1, so that's not too surprising. GM is, to me at least.

I'm sure some of it is spurred on by F1's growth in the US, but I hope it's a long term commitment/becomes culture of GM and not just a pet project of a couple of execs. Mark Reuss is a long time racing guy. Mary Barra, probably not so much.
