They should do a special episode of Jay Leno’s Garage where either a wealthy friend, or Piero Ferrari himself gifts Jay with his first Ferrari.

Thoughts on how that might do gown?

Who cares honestly? I know a lot of hard core car guys who have no desire to have a Ferrari. Isn't Jay Leno allowed not to want one?
Why are you guys so obsessed?

    Maybe get a girlfriend.

Over the years he has had a Ferrari or two. Just not now and the reasons are his own.

    He’s
He cited the reasons WHY he doesn’t have one. He didn’t say he doesn’t want one.

If Jay wanted one, he'd have one.

Its as tired a topic as timing belts.

That was my stance. He speaks of getting in the door as a Ferrari owner, but I’m pretty sure every auto enthusiast [and manufacturer] knows who Jay Leno is at this point. He’d get an allocation immediately.

Think I’ll hop over to Rennlist and read a thread or two on depreciation or ADMs.

I guess I get where Jay is coming from. I'll never buy a BMW because of an old grudge against a BMW dealer. But who really cares?

I'm always amazed at how Ferrari guys can't stand Jay Leno's supposedly dislike of Ferraris. So what? In other news...

In every video driving a Ferrari he remarks how much he enjoys them.

He told me to my face he really admires Ferraris….he just has so many car brands he loves…he loves unique and interesting cars. Ferraris being the clearly identified number one brand by enthusiasts around the world makes them the “obvious choice.”

I am not the tiniest bit surprised Jay speaks kindly, maybe even enthusiastically about Ferrari. Jay is a real car guy, he likes car guys and it connects him to a lot of people he otherwise would never get to meet. Paul Newman was exactly the same when it came to racing. One big brotherhood.
The proof that Jay was a real car guy was he respected everyone's choice of car and spoke well of each and every one because he understood your love for your car was every bit as important to you as his choices are to him.
Want to know what cars are important to Jay? Look at his collection. For a man of his means it tells you all you need to know.

What is the fascination with Leno around his cars? He's not a driver, he's not a designer, he's not an engineer.... He's a comedian that has done the same jokes for 40 years, and an ex talk show host who had script writers..

He is also a gentleman and regular guy. I had the pleasure of meeting him two different years at The Quail. You would see him tirelessly BSing and joking with anyone who would approach him, posing for pictures, etc, and NEVER acting put out or superior.

Well, I think the facination is that he's actually done what all of us dream about, if you have basically unlimited funds. If you get to his "garage" - it is truly staggering. Not just the cars, but all the trinkets, and models painting, etc... it simply speaks to me - if I had all the money in the world, I'd be basically just like him, with all kinds of quirky cars. When I was there - there was a Ferrari 308 in the very back of the garage - but it was one of his "mechanics" car. When I talked with Jay, he says, Yea, I like Ferrari, they are great cars, but for the price of a 250, I can get 5 or 6 other cars. So I'm not sure if you gave him a car, he'd really want a new one... and I don't think Piero is going to give him a $40M 250 SWB or $80M GTO.... so what's the point.

Pic is me at his garage next to his Mclaren F-1

Yes in his garage there is a 308 GTB often there that belongs to his long time mechanic Bernard. In fact it is about 10 serial numbers away from my car (so about 5 cars). I've been to the garage a few times and it is always an experience. The memorabilia with each car is every bit as impressive as the collection. The product of a lifetime of being an enthusiast. As car guys go, it's hard to top Jay Leno and a Ferrari won't do anything more to bolster that reputation.

Last year, Jason Stien asked Jay point blank why he doesn't dance with Ferrari.

    Point blank, Leno responded.

    Figure it out?

If not, let me lay it down.

    It's personal. Ferrari hurt him.

Jay resents he doesn't get special treatment (Read: Leno treated by Ferrari just like how you would be.)

Here's the thing, Jay can easily buy a Ferrari off-market and not deal with dealers of Ferrari FNA. He doesn't, though. What does that tell you if Leno believes they are 'great' cars?

Now, this is no indictment of his automotive knowledge and enthusiasm. I place other personality traits above shared interests, that's all.

It's easy to be nice, gracious, kind, when there are no chips on the table. I've been at Coco/Carson camp after witnessing what Leno did. Even the legend Johnny Carson didn't hold the guy in high esteem.

Some folks just value other 'stuff' more than character. Same as it ever was.
