Wait, do you think he does or does not seek/crave attention?

I think he does crave attention, especially directed towards his brand, his last investment was part ownwership of the Denver Bronco's. In this case I think he should crave more attention if his wants to further advance in fashion or music. Personally I don't think he seeks enough attention. Hamilton is smart, he has big goals after F1. I hope he writes more books and do more interviews. Don't stop. If the haters hate, let them hate.

Honestly, I found Hamilton less interesting this year because I didn't see him as a potential winner in any race.
Since Abu Dhabi, his form took a hit, maybe never to come back, I don't know.
In pure F1 terms, the Hamilton bubble has burst, the magic is gone.
Since ,for me the spotlight has been on Max and Leclerc, and purely for the recing.

Some think so. I don't think he has declined to a point where he is done. The natural speed is still there, he outqualified Russell. Until I see he can no longer get speed from the car, I'll still say he has more in the tank.

I think the natural comparison is with FA for LH. Somewhat similar in age. This year will be interesting to see how they both compete/speed/qualy etc.

I had NO idea that so many of you guys were such pals with Lewis and Max. You know what they crave and don't, you know what they do in their time off, just amazing. It's like reading "People" magazine: Lewis doesn't like brussel sprouts. "He abhors them because his mum used to make him eat them all the time!" said a source close to the 7 time WDC.

I don't know, but someone that hired an entertainment mananager *presumably* is more interested in becoming a global superstar vs a guy that's on record saying ''I don't want to be famous''

From those 2 things, a relatively accurate picture of their desires in life can be made.

I don't say it's done yet, but he isn't the driver he once was.
That also follows Mercedes' fortune: they have been caught up by Red Bull and Ferrari.
    The stats demonstrate that.

Hamilton is a global superstar weather he wants to be or not. Max can't be a global suprstar, weather he wants to be or not. Google Hamilton you will see him with supermodels on a yatch. Google Max you will see him playing video games.

you'd hope so after 7 titles and 14 or so years managed by hollywood media managers. No?

Basides, what's your point exactly? People are debating Lewis and Max, and you seemingly have a problem with the assumption that Lewis loves to famous vs Max who some us claim doesn't want to be famous, both statements holding weight given the actions of both drivers....but then you deflect away saying that Lewis is super famous already.

No, I'm not deflecting. I'm just wondering how there's so much knowledge here of Lewis and Max's personal lives based on what is reported in the media/internet...media/internet being people whose job it is to write headlines...whether they are true or correct or not even close. And then that "information" gets regurgitated here, based on one's biases.

NO ONE in this thread knows either of these guys personally, so these "assumptions" come across as the same crap that People/Us/blogs post as facts.

Except Max already is. Any conversation since 2021 about Hamilton, a Lewis fan has to bring Max into the conversation for some reason. So he has all the Lewis haters giving him attention.

The entire sim racing community recognizes Max among the very best and naturally his real life champion status he brings with him.

Verstappen is one of the faces of F1's marketing strategy. Whether it is Max vs Lewis, or Max vs Leclerc, he's the guy.

Why is ''being a global superstar'' seen as a trait someone wants? Seriously, only dumb or empty people actually want to be famous. Anyone that's finally famous after wanting it for so long quiclly realizes being famous is ****ing ****. Lewis being a superstar is absolutely not a thing that should be counted as achievements.

If Max wanted, of course he could be a global superstar. I guess he lacks the narcissist trait to be one though. Anyone can be one. Look at Kim Kardashian. Bravo I guess? Why are we even debating ''he's more of a celebrity therefore better"? That's got to be the dumbest take in a long line of dumb things in all things related to Hamilton. Do you take a victory wank for every extra follower Lewis has on social media over the rest of the field or something?

    +1

I like that Max is ''playing video games''. Where else can you see how you match up, even if only in digital format, to a double world champion? Nowhere. I say double world champion, it's actually at least 2 double world champions and several world champions you can measure yourself against in sim racing. Alonso also plays loads of iracing and is often seen in public lobbies. I very regularly racing against Tony Kanaan, I've raced against Lando Norris and Heikki Kovalainen...Bottas used to be extremely active in the sim racing community on a sim called Live For Speed...very obscure game.

The fact that these guys race against normal people using their real name is pretty damn awesome.

I agree completely. I've been very interested in getting an iracing rig together, but I don't really know where to start. It would be pretty cool to go wheel-to-wheel with legit racers.

I feel like we are near the bottom of the barrel of relevancy talking about "Global Superstar" status. But since we're here.....

How is "superstar" defined? By today's standard, its more about popularity than credibility. Never the less, how many people know who you are actually mean something. Business absolutely use this to their advantage as they can exploit someone's popularity to help sell their product or brand. In our world, this includes Formula 1 the business. Hero or Heel, a driver can still be a superstar.

As @Bas touched on, does someone want to be a superstar?

Anyone that wants to be a "Superstar" scored on popularity or twitter followers using strategic wording in interviews and tweets. Following the selfie culture to keep their face in the spotlight. This is vanity and it puts them alongside the likes of the Kardashian's. Ouch, that has to sting. I of course understand the financial gains of self promotion and staying relevant in the eyes of the sheep most tend to be.

Then there are those that automatically become a "Superstar" because of what they have accomplished. Very easy to recognize in the sport world. The best players of course sell the most jerseys, sell the most tickets, because they perform the best and help the team win. (or win on their own if it's an individual sport). So someone like Max Verstappen or Michael Jordan (not saying they are the same level) will attain global superstar status even if they don't want it.

For the most part, it is us, the regular nobodies that are labeling these people and following their every move, envying or hating them, and commenting about all aspects of their lives. So we are the problem, not them.

Being fast is more about your skills than the equipment you have. I know some guys that raced in the top tier of Sim Racing and used a generic wheel attached to their office desk (it's what I do, but I'm not anywhere close to that level).

Max will never be a bigger figure than Lewis. Never. Ever. I've seen Hamilton in the media more than Max. This Hamilton thread has been more active than the Max thread. And Hamilton hasn't even won a race.
    Never. Ever.

Whoever suggested he would be? I'd say who even cares, but clearly you do for some reason. Like I said, it usually comes down to popularity by feeding the media. He seems to know his audience too.
